8/28/11. On cask at Fermentation Lounge in Tallahassee, FL. Very cloudy dark orange pour with a thin, soapy off-white head that sizzles away fast, as expected. Interesting aroma indeed. A touch of maltiness in there, but mostly I get earthiness, spiciness, smokiness, and lots of pepper - it smells a bit like citrusy salsa. Similar malty and earthy flavor but with more pronounced citrus and a ton of chipotle aspect. Interesting and quite good! markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JUL 24, 2011
On firkin at St. Pete Craft Beer Expo. Pours a somewhat murky yellow with an ephemeral white head. Nose is malt, earth, pepper, the slightest hint of smoke and more chili pepper. Flavor starts off with burn and moves into malt, some bit of citrus and then back into pepper burn. Then in the finish is pepper, and about 5 minutes later the pepper is still there. This would be the ultimate IPA for spicy food or cooking, but a tasty drink as well.
