Cigar city Belgian dubbel. mason jar growler supplied by adam. thanks!... Pours a mostly murky copper brown with a
thin wispy film of light off-white head... String dark fruit esthers
with a lighter banana influence alongside an assertive degree of
yeast. Semi-sweet pretty upfront... Flavors are much of the same with
dark fruits and bananas, sweet upfront and through the middle.

Appearance: raisiny hues along with pumpernickel, plums, and prunes. Clean. Little to no head and little to no carbonation.

Nose: raisins, raisin bread with prunes and dates in-between. Chewy in the front, tart and tannic along the edges. Molasses and brown sugar melted together.
Palate: tart, meaty, and sour – plums and raisins. Meaty earthiness of more prunes and raisins, both golden and dark. Grows leather and earth as it warms, tart tannic grape skins along the edges. Shoestrings? Medium to medium-light weight with a very clean mouthfeel.
Final Thoughts: intriguing to say the least and definitely tasty. A stand-out Belgian inspired dubbel…maybe not. What I really enjoyed was what the raisins offered.
Flip top shipped up by the awesome Greg. Thanks! Popped at the Hi-Fi Release 2011. Pours a nice deeper dark copper brown, a good orange sunset edges. A small frothy tannish beige head dies to a ring, laces small. Well carbonated. Aromas are sweet on the nose, Belgian Candi sugar, with plantains/bananas move in with a touch of red dried fruits, cherries and raisins, a touch of yeasty spice, vanilla and honey. Sweet on the nose, but with some diversity and complexity. Initial is medium bodied, fairly sweet with big banana presence, estery with brown sugar and caramel, a touch bitter, lingering biscuits and toffee sweetness on the nose. Some candied fruit, a sufficient bitter finish. A bit sweet up front, but it definitely redeems itself in the finish. A solid Dubbel by Ben, light on spice, fairly sweet, but the finish brings it home markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - FEB 11, 2011
Snifter on draft at CCB. Pours opaque orange-brown with a white head. Nose is sweet malts, caramel, banana, sugar, raisins, brown sugar, and slight booze. Flavor is similar with a medium body. This one has sweetness and a mellow banana quality all over. Excellent dubbel. Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - FEB 10, 2011
On tap at CCB pouring up light dirty mahogany with tan head. The aroma offers up brown sugar notes, prunes, raisins, sweet fig-y earthiness and spices. The taste has bright yeasty spiciness followed quickly by dates, prunes, raisins, a touch of drying roasted malts and more spiciness. Into the finish it dries up with lingering dark fruity sweetness and spices.
