COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cow Boss Imperial Milk Stout was brewed in collaboration with the Florida Cattlemen’s Foundation. We aged this big stout on Florida cypress wood, which gives the beer a Good Ol’ Southern Chocolate Layer Cake character. We added in hops that show subtle notes of dark fruit, orange and anise.

22 oz bottle. Pours nearly pitch black in color and topped by a thin layer of tan colored foam that fades quickly to a very thin film and thin lines of lace around the glass. The aroma shows notes of bitter dark chocolate, vanilla cream, earthy roast, lactose, cypress wood, a touch of citrus fruit and dark malts. The flavor shows more of the dark chocolate, lactose, dark roasted malts, some orange peel and dark fruits, and a hint of cypress wood. The orange peel and fruit come through more as it starts to warm up. I definitely get some fudge, cake character as the description lists. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation that leads to a bitter sweet chocolate and roasty finish. Really nice and tasty milk stout without using any adjuncts. Good stuff.

Draft... Pours black with a small, creamy, beige head. Good retention. The aroma features dark chocolate, Cuban-roast coffee, chocolate creme and pleasant, unexpected level of nuttiness. Full-bodied and smooth with lazy carbonation. The flavor is very roasty and mildly burnt, offering notes of charcoal and 85%-cacao chocolate. Lingering, bittersweet finish.

Very thick. Fudge like. Dark black, beautiful thick mocha head. Thick chocolate. A touch of absinthe. Subtle hint of orange.

Very thick very dark. A little too sweet and thick, but still really good. Maybe I’m too old for this, but I would have liked it better had it been dialed back a little.

22oz bottle shared at Woodshop 10. Deep clear red pour with good foam. Weaker aroma with copper metallic. Taste is bubbly, dry, metallic, high carbonation, cedar wood, dusty. Wasn’t digging this one.

Pours an opaque dark brown color with khaki colored head. Roasted malt, some sweet chocolate, and woody notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium to full bodied. Finishes with roast, wood, and some sweetness.

JJMBeer (48) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - FEB 7, 2016
A decently well made milk stout. Very thin though, and not much unique going on. There is nothing terribly bad about it, but nothing wonderfully great either. A solid offering, but not Cigar City’s best.

750 ml bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting brown head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, milk chocolate and a hint of licorice. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, bitter chocolate, coffee and light earthiness with a smooth lingering coffee finish.

Keg at Route CBC, CBC Clapham, 02/10/15. Aroma is winey, grape, dark fruit. Dark brown coloured pour with a dense dark tan head. Attractive beer. Flavour is composed of medium smooth roast, salty tangy milk, lactose sugars, wood and dried fruits. Little honey sweetness. Palate is sweet, medium full bodied, rounded in the mouth. Hint of spicy and dark choc lingers.
