3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 2, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Kevin! Pours a nutty, mahogany brown color with slight clarity, topped with a swampy ecru skin that turns into an actual head when the glass is swirled. Initial aroma has a strange, almost tart dark fruitiness that was throwing me off, but it seems to subside with some warmth/time. Successive inhales bring out rich coffee beans, like sticking your nose into a fresh whole bean bag. Notes of roasted nuts, tobacco, toffee, & dried dark fruits make their way in, too. Taste has a very woodsy essence with a big nuttiness that leads into a huge coffee bean profile. Good mix of roasty & just lightly sweet. Touch of cocoa powder with more coffee & nuts in the finish. Aftertaste has a very slight staleness but nothing too concerning. I know it’s just a brown ale, but a little more creaminess in the body would do this one well. Good flavor for the ABV, not a bad brown at all.
Amberish brown, small off-white foam, caramel and coffee and some floral/fruitish notes in aroma, delicate sweetish bitter taste, a little bit too thin, average- carbonation,

Tap @ brewery: Brown with a reddish tint and tan head. Sweet chocolate aroma with a hazelnut finish. Amazing flavors of espresso and mocha. But not too sweet. Just perfect! sokuzs1 (1577) - POLAND - JUN 27, 2017

Dominuje aromat kawy. Na dalszym planie trochę czekolady, kakao, delikatnie wyczuwalne palone słody. W smaku również sporo kawy, trochę palonych słodów, wyraźne nuty czekolady, kakao. Całość dość lekka, trochę słodyczy skontrowane średnią goryczką. keysersoze79 (50) - zurich, SWITZERLAND - APR 27, 2017
Drank on tap at Kufle I Kapsle, Warsaw. Not very gassy, dark brown with a delicious coffee aroma. Tastes less of coffee than it smells, but good solid brown ale.

BelgianBeerGal (4156) - Panama City, Florida, USA - APR 5, 2017
Can picked up at FWB Beach Liquor after struggling to figure out if I’ve had it or not before. Pours out a dark brown with a nice foamy, brown head. Pretty big aroma of sweet malt and coffee plus some spice from the chicory. Big coffee flavor with an almost creamy mouthfeel. Pretty dang nice, especially for a brown ale. jjsint (3492) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAR 30, 2017
Draught from Alus Celle, Rīga. Dark brown, opaque, flat. Aroma dominated by bitter coffee and tobacco leaves. Taste is very sweet, with an over-sugared cortadito at the helm. Long brown sugar finish. Oily flat body, which loses some marks, but overall a brilliant beer and a thrill to get it in Europe. neongolden (1825) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 21, 2017
(Tap sample @ CBC 2016 Green Session, Copenhagen) Clear dark brown pour with a small off white head. Aroma of roast coffee with some slightly green character, toasted grains, sweetish malt, vanilla. Flavour has some rather sweet but slightly thin caramel malt, toasty roast, ample coffee bean, green pepper, vanilla, light hop bitterness, kind of nutty. A thin feeling in both flavour and mouthfeel. Didn’t really do much for me at all.
