Cigar City Cucumber Saison hits all the right notes and you still might like it even if you don’t like cucumbers (drink your vegis!) Delicate and slightly modest aroma of cucumber with a hint of fruit. Amber pour in a snifter glass with a white pillowy head. (Mine was slightly too foamy but I am writing that off to a less than optimal pour.) Taste excites the senses with a nicely balanced flavor that has only a hint of sour. The cucumber is definitely there, but so are citrus hop notes and malt flavors that linger on the palate. Cucumber Saison is another CCB delight, and if the thought of drinking vegis scares some away, that’s alright with me. (No, really, ignore the name and give it a try.) 77ships (9895) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAR 30, 2013
THX! To Sebletitje for this one. 75 cl. bottle split – presumably bottle on 08/2012. Only my second cucumber beer – bright golden with a big fuzzy white head. Nose is – wow – undeniably chockfull of cucumbers, there is no guessing or maybe involved here, this is cucumber all the way, lot of cucumber peel with a hint of old cucumbers and lots of cucumber juiciness and flesh, light touch of yeast, fluffy, effervescent, sweet yeast buried underneath the cucumbers,… Taste is huge, very juicy cucumbers, lots of their peel as well, some of that bitterness from cucumber peel, combined with very airy, bubbly body with thing delicate yeast, lightly sweet, flower sweet yeast, Champagne-like in feel which works perfectly here, only light hops underneath, light hint of bitterness cucumber and hops in the back, some inclination of sweetness,… Light, fluffy, light sweet grains, works perfectly, cucumber Champagne, cork dry – sounds like a gimmick but this is as refreshing and satisfying as eating a cucumber salad in the middle of a desert,… Man if it was summer outside – they need to make a radish version as well, also leeks, watermelon etc. would be lovely. Wonderful beer. Nice and tasty but not in your face. Has a great back end aroma. Seems very floral in the back end. Suttree (6415) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 1, 2012
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 I REALLY liked this beer. Aroma was cucumber, light funk, some white wine. Nice bubbly, prickly palate. Lots of cucumber flavor, wine, lemon. subtle funk and woody notes, as well. some subtle hoppy notes, as well, but not overbearing. Loved it. Edit: 2013 version is even more cucumber, which makes it better. Almost perfect. jstraw (1967) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 4, 2012
Murky orange with massive, flotsam, white head / Light, bright, acidic nose of cucumber, dry hops, faint orchard fruit, and spice / Light to medium body, crisp and acidic, vibrant fine carbonation, delightfully salty, hoppy but good malt balance, and light bitterness on the dry finish / Elegant flavors of cucumber water and salt, with notes of green apple, banana, coriander, and oak? / Really enjoy this. Wish I were in Florida, and it were summer.

On draft at Funky Buddha for Cigar City Tap Takeover. This was probably the big hit of the night. Light orange hazy color with a thin frothy head. Aroma is straight up cucumber, pickle and a little bit of chives. It reminded me of eating a Cuban sandwich for some reason. Definitely a session-able beer. garmonbozia (429) - Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA - SEP 16, 2012
Hats off to hopscotch for coming through with this beer. Man the head on this beer was amazing. It took a while to be drinkable, but when it subsided it was amazing. Beautiful cloudy yellow color with a thick white head. Smell is cucumbers and spices. Taste is totally cucumber and coriander. Some nice carbonation. But the overall beer was amazing with the floral aroma and cucumbers. Thanks Eric for allowing me me try this beer. WanderinCelt87 (197) - Hamburg, New Jersey, USA - AUG 2, 2014
Pour from a bottle is a nice clear golden with a white head. Aroma had a hint of cucumber and some spice. Taste is nice and smooth with a little cucumber taste. Leaves a clean after taste. MetalNHopHead (2014) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - NOV 21, 2015
Gherkins aren’t just for jerkin’. They’re for drinkin’. Wow. More than 900 reviews later, and I’m still as weird and immature as I was with my first rating. Oh well. What could be more satisfying than combining a staple summer beer with a gourd renowned for its thirst-quenching abilities. Not much, that’s what. Sometimes, beers like this take on a strange vegetable aroma and taste that’s unpleasant. Somehow, Cucumber Saison manages to smell and taste completely like a cucumber without being the least bit offensive. There are the fruity, spicy, and earthy elements - like in many Saisons - and they blend wonderfully with the cucumber. And did I mention refreshing? apcamhi (11) - - NOV 29, 2015
Great taste; very light and refreshing. The cucumber smell is much more intense than the flavor.
