COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Decoherence is a 50/50 blend of two distinct beers: an imperial porter aged in bourbon barrels (Outskirts), and an imperial stout aged in brandy barrels (brewed only for this beer). Then, because we like to have fun, we aged it on coffee and coconut.

The coffee blend for this beer was crafted by our brewmaster Wayne with our friends at Buddy Brew. Wayne wanted the blend to focus on rich chocolate notes to help accentuate the coconut.

We used what can only be described as a “very large” amount of toasted coconut for this beer. We consulted some of our brewery friends in the industry and spent months in our lab dosing the proper amounts to ensure the final result was perfect.

Poured from a bottle. Aroma is dark chocolate with quite a bit of coconut. Some burnt sugar and treacle notes with lighter caramel. Light nutty notes with some alcohol. A bit of a red wine and bourbon note. Pours dark black with a medium large, thick dark mocha head that shows good retention as it slowly recedes to the edges. No lacing and moderately long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with great chocolate notes. Lots of dark and milk chocolate. Moderately strong coconut notes with some light nut character. Some light alcohol spice. Light bourbon and brandy notes. As it warms there is lots of chocolate, coconut and lighter dark fruit notes. Light roast and moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice stout and better than I was expecting. Great coconut, chocolate and barrel notes. Thanks Sonny!!!
