COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Decoherence is a 50/50 blend of two distinct beers: an imperial porter aged in bourbon barrels (Outskirts), and an imperial stout aged in brandy barrels (brewed only for this beer). Then, because we like to have fun, we aged it on coffee and coconut.

The coffee blend for this beer was crafted by our brewmaster Wayne with our friends at Buddy Brew. Wayne wanted the blend to focus on rich chocolate notes to help accentuate the coconut.

We used what can only be described as a “very large” amount of toasted coconut for this beer. We consulted some of our brewery friends in the industry and spent months in our lab dosing the proper amounts to ensure the final result was perfect.

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours black with small beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong coconut, roast, dark chocolate, wood, bourbon. Thick body, chewy, similar flavors to nose, nice sweetness, boozy finish, really enjoyed this.

7/29/16. 750mL bottle. Thanks, as always, to markwise, for being my trustee! Viscous black pour under a nice tan head. Rich aroma, black patent all over, ashy, rich, loads of barrel, dark chocolate, hints of coffee and coconut. The flavor is awesome - coconut and coffee abound, lots of barrel in a good way, sweet brandy and bourbon, vanilla, more. Delish!!

Bottle. Nose is light vanilla, Munich malt thing going on, crackery. Not much coffee. Pitch black, dark brown head. Taste is a ton of coconut. Lots of fudge. Modest vanilla. Not much warming. Really tasty. Full mouthfeel, creamy.

Bottle shared with a friend. Poured a deep pitch black colour with a dark tanned head that doesn’t last to long. Aroma is strong Apple brandy barrel upfront, Some sweetness of bourbon, dark coffee, a light roastiness, small amount of coffe, sweet chocolate, vanilla Cream, a light charred coconut notice but not as much as i hoped it would be.taste has a bit more coconut compared to the nose, again big brandy notes, caramelised sweet apples, deep dark chocolate, the bourbon adds a extra sweetness to it. Bit heavy on the barrel, but not overpowered for me. Big sticky and smooth full bodied mouthfeel. Another world class stout from CCB

Shared at an Ann Arbor get together at Jeff’s on July 20. 750 mL bottle. The pour is a nice thick black color with a dark khaki colored head that falls to a film. The aroma is very complex. There is a ton of barrel right up front. A bit of coconut is rolled into a nice coffee. There is a big roasted malt and a dark chocolate. The bourbon and a brandy really offer a good booziness, but it is a little hot. There is a fudginess and a light vanilla. The flavor is a little better. The booziness fades, and lets the fudge, coconut, vanilla, and coconut really pop. There is a light coffee that keeps everything interesting. The mouth feel is thick and heavy with a soft carbonation and a lingering coconut, vanilla and coffee on the back end. There is a light bourbon and brandy finish and a roasty coconut that is really nice. This beer is pretty damn good. There is a lot happening, but it seems to balance itself out.
