COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We salute Don Gavino with this tart guava ale, aged in chardonnay barrels to create a balance between the sweetness of the base beer and fruit with the tartness of the lactic fermentation.

Not a huge fan of guava, and this beer suffers in my eyes for that and basically that alone, as the base is actually quite nice, the tartness levels are just right, and the wine barrel character adds a nice note to the finish. But the somewhat awkward sweetness of guava paste lingers in my mind and keeps this from pure excellence. Yes, I realize I am drinking a "Double Guava Ale" and complaining about it being too heavy on the Guava.

Woodshed 3.0! 750mL bottle pours with a murky copper body that supports an off white head. The mild aroma is a subtle mix of peaches and apricots, some sweetness and a bit of a woodsy sensation. The taste delivers fruitiness with an apricot to red apple mix ringed by floral notes that have a flowery lavender edge to them. It then gets a bit yeasty here and there where a mild guava component lurks off in the background.

Not sure who brought this to Woodshed 3.0...but thanks! Sweet, tart, and floral...without saltiness. Tropical fruit, sour milk, white wine, oak, and some grassiness. Not a fan of this one...drinkable but not enjoyable.

CBC Session 3. Light haze on this orange - amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and crisp. Mild sourness balances well with a dessert wine sweetness. Touch of vanilla oak. Mild lemon tang underneath. Light finish. Very nice flavour combo.

Sample at fauxbab bottleshare. Sour, overly carbonated. Too much Chardonnay.

750ml brown bottle. Bottleshare at Ferris’. Dark orange pour, murky looking. Holds a thin white cap. Nose has citrus and tartness. Taste has tropical fruit/guava, tartness, vinegar, some yeast. Good.

Bottle - Light tart tropical fruit. Cloudy and a rich white head. Fruity, starchy and a light bitterness. Lots of hype that I don’t get from the bottle.

Pours a dark orange with a long lasting thick head. Smells of sour white grape followed by a hint of funkiness. Smells like a Belgium sour. Taste of mild white grape and guava hit the palate first followed by a powerful Chardonnay character. Very tart and finishes dry. A very wine like finish although the tartness lingers.
