Copenhagen Beer Celebration, 2012. Pours hazy golden with a small white head. Cedar, wood, tropical fruit and a bit of pepper. White pepper. Really dry and warming.

Sample at CBC. Frothy white good mostly deminishing head. DArk yellow colour. Moderate malty and hopy and yeasty aroma. Moderate bitter flaor. Average moderate bitter finish. Creamy palate.

Bottle. Pours gold with a white head, good retention/some lace. Aroma of cedar, fruity esters, citrus, lemon, perfume. Taste is sweet, light cedar, fruity esters, lightly medicinal, bread, low bitterness. Palate is slightly dry, oily, soft carbonation, sweet finish. At 9% this is closer to Abbey Tripel than Saison.

Bright yellow/gold color. Hazy. Small white head. Little lacing. Big cedar aroma, peppery dry cedar. Flavor is cedar, peppery dry cedar. Bitter carbonic. A little sweet and dry. Not bad, but the cedar is overpowering. Like cedar is expected to be. Not a good combination in my opinion.

Gold pour, big white head. Yeasty aroma, lots of cedar, some sweet honeyed notes, spice. Flavor is cedar heavy, some spice, yeast, a bit sweet with some tart notes in the back. Interesting to say the least.

(trade w/changeup45) - Big frothy white head. Body is golden orange and very clear. No doubting what kind of wood this stuff aged in as youre inundated with the aroma of wet cedar wood at first whiff. Pretty overwhelming if youve never had it before. Sort of like black pepper corns and coriander seeds. Transfers over into the flavor as well. Any hop character is pretty much masked by the harshness of the wood. Theres almost a perfumy flavor to it. Certainly worth trying, but I find it hard to believe anyone can drink this stuff on a daily basis unless theyre part woodchuck! Mightve been better had they steamed the Spirals to take a little bit of the edge off.
