UPDATED: APR 7, 2012 Bottle split with keith. Pours a shimmering clearish gold, small white soapy head, sporadic lacing. Aromas are fuckin unreal. Pure gruit cedar, this brings me back to the best beer cigar city ever made. Shame it got axed this year. This must be the replacement. Other scents of ginger, vanilla, vtg cedar, orange. Taste is a creamy, cedar aged, fruity spicy wood funk yo.

A Mes rate. Tap at Blind Tiger.
My god. I’ve tried pretty much all the cedar stuff from Cigar City and none of them are holding back on the wood character but this one is way more than the others. It’s like it’s been double cedared or something. Thoroughly intense wood and lemon and epic spice. Drinks like 4%. Nothing like the 9 plus quoted. Spicy grapefruit wood finish. Quite a shocking experience but thoroughly enjoyable all the way through.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2012 750ml Bottle: Got in trade from smith4498; THANKS Jason! Aroma of cedar, wood, slight spice, and a hint of coriander. What a nice coriander scent! Poured orange/gold in color with a large, creamy, dense, off-white head that diminished a bit but lasted throughout. Cloudy/hazy. Very sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of cedar, light pepper, and slight yeast. Light to medium body. Slick, then slightly dry texture. Soft to average carbonation. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter, cedar, pepper finish is lightly dry. 9%ABV is completely hidden throughout. I really like this; cedar is your friend.

Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Golden with a lasting white head. Spicy aroma with lots of black and pink pepper and a touch of wood. Dry and spicy flavour with lots of pepper and citrus character, and distinct cedar wood, especially in the late aftertaste

Tap @ CBC, 2012.
Pours clear yellow with a small, creamy, white film head. Aroma has lots of pepper - really accentuated by the wood. Doughy malts, grassy. Very fresh. Medium carbonation, lovely dry and light creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is initially malty, doughy, then turns to wonderfully sharp white pepper. Pine bitterness and crisp finish. Lovely, and amazing what that cedar does to enhance flavours and aromas.

750 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow gold honey with a medium sized white head. Aroma of fresh lemon, orange peel, pineapple, corriander and fresh cedar wood. Taste is much the same. Superb

A - Pours a hazy golden-orange color with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of sweet grainy and lightly bready malts with coriander, orange peel, ginger, Belgian yeast, and cedar. T - Starts off with sweet grainy and bready malts with some coriander, ginger, and lemon zest. Through the middle, the cedar comes through with some Belgian yeast, and a bit of floral hops. The finish is a mix of sweet bready malts with coriander, orange peel, Belgian yeast, cedar, and a touch of ginger. M - Medium-plus bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry, sweet, and estery finish. D - Very drinkable. Nice strong Saison with some good spices thrown in and the cedar adding some nice complexity.

This just happened to be the cask of the week when I made my first (and definitely not last) visit to the Cigar City Tasting Room. Really, really good stuff.

Bottle at Mikkeller Bar Viktoriagade, july 24th 2014. Hazy golden body with a big lively white head. Aroma of cedar, grapefruit, funk, taste is funky with heavy cedar and notes of grapefruit, red apples, orange zest and wood. Delicious! Dry fruity finish, lasting fruit aftertaste. A nice one!
