Hazy orange with big, fizzy & foamy white head / Delicate, tart nose of brett, candy, and orchard fruit / Medium to full body, tart, aggressive fine-bubbled carbonation, somewhat sweet and syrupy underneath, but with good hop balance and moderately bitter finish / Complex flavors of passion fruit, pineapple, banana, orange, apple, smoke, clove, coriander, straw, horse blanket, manure, and grapefruit wood (presumably) / A tiny bit overly sweet and syrupy for my taste, with carbonation problems, but still a great brew, and significantly better than the lemon wood version by my notes. ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 9, 2012
A - Pours a hazy golden-orange with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of sweet grainy and bready malts with some grapefruit, orange peel, ginger, coriander, Belgian yeast, honey, and some light other spices.
T - Starts off with a mix of sweet grainy and bready malts with grapefruit, orange peel, coriander, and a touch of honey. Through the middle, some ginger, Belgian yeast, other spices, and light floral hops. The finish is a mix of sweet grainy and bready malts, grapefruit, ginger, coriander, Belgian yeast, and some other spices.
M - Medium-plus bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry, sweet, and estery finish.
D - Very drinkable. The grapefruit wood adds some nice complexity to a good base big Saison. Good overall balance. Jayseppi (159) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 26, 2012
Poured a cloudy straw yellow and had an amazing aroma. Grapefruity with some woodiness and maybe some subtle smoke, possibly from smoked wood chips? The flavour is sweet and nicely rounded. Grapefruit is sweeter and smoother than would come from hopping. Full mouth feel and some slight heat on the back. Christian (13809) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 13, 2012
At Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma of citrus, a touch of pepper, tropical fruit and perfumed floral notes. Sweetish fruity and spicy flavour with pineapple and fresh wood in particular beastmaster (381) - Florida, USA - MAR 8, 2013
On tap at ccb. Citrus, grapefruit. Sweet and delicious. Light and low bitterness like you’d find in a peel of a grapefruit.

very foamy pour. Tons of fizzy white head. Lots of fruity spicy aroma. Definite hints of grapefruit. Hazy orange color. Probably my favorite of this series.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2012 Very complex beer. Lots of carbonation upon opening bottle, flowing out top. Poured a hazy orange color, good head but dissipated quickly. Smells of ginger, coriander, maybe grapefruit. Complex taste: bitter and sweet, fruity and smooth, peppery. After warming up it was thicker, more medicinal. Interesting beer.

On tap at Cigar City. Pours a hazy yellow with a small white head. Nose is a tremendous amount of grapefruit, and white grapefruit at that. I get some light tropical fruit, some citrus pith, and some more dry grapefruit. Flavor is similar with huge white and red grapefruit pieces with a strange woody quality about the flavor. This one has the citrus notes of an IPA with the smooth body of a saison. Medium in body and has much in common with a citrus orchard. cracklefish (108) - Ohio, USA - APR 29, 2012
Bottle - heavy wood and grapefruit on the nose. Plenty of lemon and ginger. Flavors start a bit sharp but as the carbonation decreases the beer really opens up. Lots of Saison complexity with a juicy and funky backdrop against lemony and spicy wallop. Drinks way easier than 9%. Much thinner malt profile that the CCB chewy character and it works well here.
