750 ml El Catador bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a reddish hue and topped by a small tan layer of foam that settles quickly and rejoins the body below. The aroma shows notes of pumpkin, a mixture of spices with cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, sweet caramel malts, vanilla, and bourbon soaked oak. The flavor follows suit with the pumpkin, spices, and sweet caramel up front followed by big boozy bourbon, and oak laden vanilla. Sugary sweet but not overly cloying with a big bourbon component and the pumpkin playing its role nice with all the spices. Full bodied and smooth with soft carbonation that leads to a big bourbon soaked pumpkin and spice finish with lingering heat from the booze. Really nice barrel component to the base Good Gourd beer here. HonusWagner (2232) - Florida, USA - MAY 26, 2017
It’s what you’d expect if you’ve ever had Good Gourd Almighty and literally any beer aged in a bourbon barrel, where the bourbon kinda dominates the cool spice notes and wipes them away into an ocean of sweet boozy goodness. Whereas the brandy GGA works extraordinarily well as a reimagination of the beer, this is just the beer taking on a new, arguably lesser, dominant flavor. Bottle to snifter. Nose is moderate booze with light vanilla and pie spices. Light dried fruit. Some more pumpkin spices as it warms but not one seems to come to the forefront. Deep red to brown. Much darker than regular gourd. Small khaki head. Taste is full of vanilla and pumpkin cupcake, light vanilla icing. Slushy residual sugar on the lips. Overall the pumpkin flavor is moderate and not over the top but still there. Pleasant Barrel character without being too hot. wutangfinancial (204) - CA to VA, California, USA - OCT 21, 2016
