Fire hydrant growler thanks to Mar via Tampa crew. Notes of charred oak, black plastic trash bags, "green" hops, dark fruits, fudge, and vanilla. Coats the glass and is syrupy but the lack of carbonation makes this beer feel like 2-days-after-tasting beer. sliffy (2039) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 4, 2009
Thanks to Daknole for hooking Moejuck up with this. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma, chocolate, rich malts, coffee some slight oak. Flavor, smooth dark chocolate, earthy bitterness, some slight oak and vanilla notes behind a nice roasted/citrus bitterness. Very good. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - DEC 4, 2009
1L growler thanks to mar, via a trade with Daknole. Pours with a deep black body and a quick to fade deep brown head. Inks the glass. Aroma of brown sugar, chocolate, currants, light scotch, vanilla, nuts and caramel. Taste is a bit bitter with dark chocolate, hops, earth, caramel and milk chocolate. Syrupy mouthfeel. I wanted to love this, but don’t find it much more amazing than the regular Zhukov. Glad Dakine is moving closer. JW77 (22) - Miami, Florida, USA - NOV 29, 2009
UPDATED: JAN 12, 2010 Black and viscous, dark as night. Pours with a wonderful mocha head. There is some great head retention on this beer. This beer is so chocolaty and fudgy with a hit of super smooth whisky on the front of the palate and then comes that blast of fresh hops in the back. What a awesome beer it is, so damn good. Great beer to send off a good friend with. MeadMe (1709) - Fishhawk, Florida, USA - NOV 29, 2009
A: Pours deep deep dark black with a nice tall evil mocha colored head. Awesome retention. When you are done it looks as though a lace gernade went off in your glass. Yep it’s a CCB stout.
S: Lots of roast with bold notes of chocolate. More mild tones of oak, and green hops.
T: I like the way this one came out. The wonderful flavors of the base Zhukov’s remain. The oak seems to blend nicely with mild whiskey. There is a nice blast of hop bitterness on the backend.
M: Full in body, smooth, with a nice hoppy finish.
D: Good. It is a tasty beer and a fitting treat to send Dak off to Arizona.
