Another incredible beer that I thought I’d never get to try. Big thanks to Maltzilla for sharing this at the wee hours of the morning. Super dark pour, thick as all hell. Aroma has big hints of bourbon, chocolate, burnt malts, slight vanilla. The flavor isn’t as boozy as I expected and it drank very nice. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 17, 2011
32oz growler shared in the Goose Island line while waiting for the 5:30 surprise of the day. Probably not the best idea in the world but I digress. oh yeah, thanks to a generous florida soul for sending this our way…. pours as deep, dark, silky, and full as the other heavy cigar city stouts that were poured over the course of the weekend. impenetrable dark black stouty pour with a thin wispy light tan head… aroma primarily contained notes of chocolate and molasses while being fairly accented by softer whiskey and supporting vanilla notes. hard to decipher the hops actually, at least for me… flavors deviate very little from the aroma. thick robust and assertive flavor throughout with emphasis on silky chocolate, molasses, the whiskey barrel of course which was held nicely in check from becoming overbearing in any way. again, little hop presence. thick full bodied which was appreciated and enjoyed. would love to try a fresh sample of this with more fresh prevalent hop component. still a success in my book though although not quite as enjoyable as the other pushes. Thanks again to KAN! Poured near black with a very dark tan head.. oily. The aroma was sweet, warm, and dark, with a fine blend of chocolates, molasses, and lesser coffee.. citrusy hops and lightly metallic bourbon cut through nicely, but that character was fairly restrained.. great nose! The flavor found very warm molasses and coffee at the core, with earth and citrus hops plus a shot of bourbon laced throughout.. chocolate picked up toward the back, along with some vanilla.. really tasty! Syrupy and coating on the palate, with a very good feel to it.. warm, but not hot.. great brew! I need to drink this again sometime! TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - AUG 14, 2011
UPDATED: AUG 16, 2011 32 oz growler shared by Kan. Pours a pitchblack opaque pour, dark and thick with a dark ominous decent brown head, dies to decent ring, ok lacing. Aromas are bakers chocolate, dry hops, touches of whiskey, roasted malts, toffee and biscuits. Rich with a touch of anise, big cocoa, dry hops, touches of oak, vanilla grows with whiskey touches, light heat with more vanilla, and plums. Rich coffee, grounds, and cocoa, touches of toffee, rich vanilla, espresso. That lingering heat and oak into the finish. Really nice, the hops aren’t too robust. Instead, offering rich coffee, oak, and chocolate into the finish. Nice, and as a CCB stout fan it does the job. Not the best of their treatments, but quite tasty. Perhaps it’s old, but the hops don’t really make their presence known. The oak chips and touch of spirit is a nice draw. You can’t mess up a Zhukov treatment (Well, except that Green Apple bomb).. So this was a great beer, but a bit of a letdown as far as hype concerns it. Because it’s the original batch, it lacks any real hops. Ok, but regular Zhukov is probably better overall. cbfobes (2885) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - AUG 14, 2011
Growler shared by pantanap while at the GTMW 2011 waiting in the Goose Island line, what a freaking good guy to bust this out and share! Pours pitch black with a thin head, the aroma was incrediable with touches of chocolate, has a bit of booze on the nose but it was nearly perfect, the flavor had a good amount of chocolate mixed in with some wood in the finish, awesome beer, one of the best I tried this entire weekend.

8/13/11. Growler. Dark black pour with a nice brown head. Slightly sour aroma with a touch of whiskey and huge stout aspects. Sweet stout at first with a bit of oak and whiskey with lingering oak and ash. Nice, and glad to try it. 50belair (3680) - Florida, USA - AUG 10, 2011
Growler shared at the District. Joan Jett black pour with a chocolate head. Aromas of dark roasted malts, deep chocolates, and Cascade hops. Dark and rich with roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, and uber smooth whiskey flavors that finish with a mild hoppy bitterness. Kudos to Dak & JW for dreaming up this gem.... biggsbowler (629) - Port St. Lucie, Florida, USA - AUG 9, 2011
Growler shared by Tony at Coffee District. This beer is still great, but I wish this was a fresh batch. I got very little hops in the aroma, which really disappointed me. You could still taste the Blue, but it seem like it struggled with the Zhukov after a year. This beer is still great and needs to be brewed again. octo (22) - USA - AUG 8, 2011
pours black with no head, smells of bourbon and zhukovs, body is thinner than normal zhukovs, taste is slightly bitter, bourbon and zhukov. could drink a lot of this. steelcitybrew (454) - Orlando, Florida, USA - AUG 5, 2011
