UPDATED: DEC 18, 2009 Black as night. Dark brown head. Aroma is loaded with fudge, whiskey, bright hops, and oak. Flavor is fudgetastic with a nice edgy fresh hop and whiskey flavor. Remarkably smooth for 11.5%!! wow JW77 (22) - Miami, Florida, USA - NOV 29, 2009
UPDATED: JAN 12, 2010 Black and viscous, dark as night. Pours with a wonderful mocha head. There is some great head retention on this beer. This beer is so chocolaty and fudgy with a hit of super smooth whisky on the front of the palate and then comes that blast of fresh hops in the back. What a awesome beer it is, so damn good. Great beer to send off a good friend with. ksurkin (1021) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - JUN 14, 2012
750ml, counter pressure filled bottle, courtesy of JW77. wow, thanks so much JW! so this is one of my white-whaleís and canít believe i get the chance to try it for imperial stout rating #200! bottle cracks open with quiet hiss and pours a stunning, syrupy, oil-slick, jet black that is capped by a beautiful, rusty brown, full bodied head that leaves rich, sticky, oily rings of lace. aroma is absolutely amazing with huge notes of dark chocolate fudge, bbq smoke, toasted oak, and black coffee backed by chocolate-covered tangerines, subtle pine hops, and dry, smokey whiskey with subtle hints of toffee, vanilla, and graham cracker as it warms. flavor is stunning, simply out of this world, with massive, bitter dark chocolate, burnt brownies, huge roasted espresso, charred cedar, and toffee candy up front that transitions beautifully into smokey whiskey, dry orange peel, sweet tangerines, spruce needles, and vanilla beans and finishes with an in-your-face dose of raw espresso beans, chocolate frappe, and dry oak. palate is typical cigar city imperial stout...huge, rich, milkshake-thick, and perfectly carbonated with a huge, dry, roasted, bittersweet finish. overall, one of the best non-barrel-aged imperial stouts iíve ever had thatís quite possibly only 2nd to Hunahpuís in my book. wow. this stuff rocks. wavers1 (916) - Notown, California, USA - FEB 17, 2010
huge thanks to daknole for the hook up on this one! 16oz swingtop growler. tasted with the base beer and the humidor series. pours a very thick black just like the base beer, with a beutiful multi layer head action. aroma has a nice amount of whiskey present, and a nice frsh hop noce not commonly found in stouts, very well balanced and not at all offensive. the taste is great, the base brew is complemented very nicely by the barrels and the addition of the hops. notes of fresh oak mix with charred malt bills and the hop profile compliments the refined taste of the blue. damn good stuff, my favorite out of the 3. thebaldwizard (1207) - Ohio, USA - DEC 22, 2009
Wow! Thanks to Dakine for a bottle of this gem. One of the best brews Iíve had in quite some time. Incredible aroma. A nice mix of the light citrus hop scents mixed with a faint milk chocolate aroma. The appearance is black with a light brown head. Nice full body with gentle carbonation, which fits the beer very well. The taste is a great balance and complex blend of coffee flavors with light chocolate and the hops coming through in the end and aftertaste. Smooth and rich flavor with very little heat. Tasty stuff for sure!

Black pout. Aroma of sweet charcoal. Some salt air, coffee, and semi-sweet cocoa. A touch of citrus and distant smoke, like sweet BBQ. WOW! Medium sweetness, lots of chocolate flavors, some vanilla. Dark chocolate covered espresso beans, light scotch, seaweed, soy, and a touch of licorice. Finishes with a mellow roasted earthiness. Smooth, balanced. Perfect.
On Nitro at Cigar City, pours a thick and creamy black color with a creamy light brown head. Arommas of coffee, chocolate, toffee, light vanilla, and booze from the barrel. Flavors are huge coffee, light fudge, light hops, vanilla and some burning booze aftertaste. I missed this on tap the past few times, glad this one went on again, another amazing stout from Cigar City. knickskicks (1162) - - MAR 24, 2013
