(DC Local Gathering, "growler," thanks ygtbsm94) Hazed dark amber, thin white head. Guava-mango and kiwi aromas ride lighter swirls of grapefruit and orange. Bitter citrus and tropical fruit flavors round with just a faint touch of cedar in the finish. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Seems like the perfect version of Florida-style IPA. Good stuff indeed… bconley (352) - Fern Park, Florida, USA - JUL 10, 2009
Growler thanks to dchmela. Very sweet hoppy smell. The guava gave it a much fruitier smell. Taste is the normal jai alai goodness with a really cool grapefruit bitterness. JaBier (8156) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - JUL 8, 2009
Growler sample at Muckfest 2009 Day 2. Cloudy orange pour with a thin white head. Tropical fruit aroma (I wouldn’t have picked out guava without the name, so I can’t say guava) with some hop and tartness. Fruity and tart flavor up front with a dry hop finish. jcwattsrugger (12517) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - JUL 8, 2009
@Tampa Weekly Gathering-Thanks retorp–hipothicary jar–pours a white head and cloudy orange/gold color. Aroma is guave/pine, secondary medium malt. Taste is guava, lemon/grapefruit rind, secondary medium malt. JohnC (3008) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - JUL 7, 2009
Thanks to daknole for shipping a grower to me and a Huge thanks to elnadeau for helping recarbonate after the shipping company caused some leakage.
Amber beer, nice hoppy presence and flavor but the guava adds some sweet/tart characteristics that are very nice.

(DC Local Gathering, "growler," thanks ygtbsm94) Medium off-white head atop cloudy amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, catty, guava, kiwi. Taste is moderately sweet, guava, catty, some pineapple/grapefruit. Medium body, some resin, light acidity. Nicely drinkable, alcohol well hidden. JMFG (1587) - Florida, USA - JUL 3, 2009
Hazy deep orange color with a moderately thick off-white head. Interesting slightly sweet tropical fruit aroma, not overtly citric, more apple-like. The taste has guava up-front and the hops appear more on the finish. A good combination. tjthresh (1875) - Greenfield, Indiana, USA - JUL 2, 2009
Growler shared by StFun. Murky muddy with faint dirty white head. The nose has an odd fruit aroma. I guess its guava. I certainly get the ceadar. That’s interesting. Cedar flavor with a bit of fruit finish. Medium body. Balanced finish. Very interesting to say the least. ChainGangGuy (4919) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - JUL 1, 2009
Appearance: Pours a hazed, dark orange-amber body with a slim, creamy-looking, off-white head.
Smell: Aromatic scent of fruits, both guava and citrus, coated with a fine dusting of spicy white pepper, light pine, caramel, and some soft florals.
Taste: Pale maltiness combined with sweet tastes of toffee and caramel and a light toastiness. Fruity taste of guava with it’s alternately sweetish and sour qualities with transitions into hoppy flavors of grilled citrus fruits and pine. Moderate bitterness, though there’s plenty of maltiness left to balance things back out. Big spicy kick like teaspoon of finely-ground white pepper. Small hint of florals arrives late. Finishes dry, spicy, and bitter.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation. There’s even some chewiness to it.
Drinkability: Excellent! Another lovely, unique release from Cigar City. Very drinkable but also packed with flavor. soicanbreathe (13) - Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA - JUN 28, 2009
Very floral aroma, cloudy orange in color, the guava seemed to mellow out the hoppiness of this IPA, guava and hops though a great pair
