Hand-bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has strong notes of cedar wood as well as medium notes of roasted malt, smoke, and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of cedar, roasted malt, smoke, as well as medium notes of soy sauce, roasted malt, and alcohol, leading to a very dry, roasted, cedar wood, and alcoholic finish. Thanks a lot MadsBerg for sharing. anders37 (27577) - Malmö, SWEDEN - DEC 26, 2010

Chriso rock the roof down pre-GBBF tasting. Quite much pitch black colour with small beigeish brown head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, some mild wooden notes as well as alcohol, syrup and quite much liquorice. Flavour is quite much the same along with some nice roasted notes and mild tarry notes. A very pleasant Imperial Stout.
6th June 2010. RBESG 10 Grand Tasting at the Brasserie 4:20 warehouse. Thanks Papsoe! Opaque black beer - dark brown head. Cedar on the nose. Rich soft dry palate. Tons of spicy cedar, peppery, mixed in with dark chocolate. Finishes dry. Really cedar dominated but pretty good stuff! cgarvieuk (26365) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 6, 2010

Hand bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madsberg. Pours a pitch black with a creamy brown head. Very spicy aroma - must be the cedar - with lots of burned malt and vanilla. Solid body, hard roasted malts, vanilla and pumpkin accents. Malt astringent finish. Amazing one. 161209 fiulijn (21506) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 6, 2011
RBESG 2010, Grand Tasting, bottlemcberko (19805) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 9, 2012
Black oil color; the darkest brown head ever seen. Aroma of roasted malt, very peppery, leathery too. Strong roasted malt and liquorice flavor, strong body, the mouthfeel is a bit oily; peppery, with black coffee too. The final is strong but less bold than expected; too much roasted malt and coffee. Very good, original, not impressive.
750mL bottle, pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out the cedar above anything, drowning out anything else of the base memory, subtle aromas of smoked meat, pepper and light chocolate malts. Flavour is very pepper and herbally, with the pepper and shitloads of the cedar upfront, dominating everything. After a while, the impie stout characteristic reveal themselves even more, with some roast and chocolate... but the pepper and cedar completely dominate this thing. Solid, though very odd. Not sure the cedar goes well with any style, now having had this with both the the Jai Alai IPA and Marshal Zhukov.
