4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
golden amber color, citrus hops with a sweet malt and slight woodsy aroma, flavor citrus orange lemon with slight malty sweetness with a woodsy dry finish, outstanding IPA
This was the first Cigar City brew that I sampled, so can't compare it to any of their others like the regular Jai Alai IPA. Picked up at Roy's Liquor in Fort Pierce, FL. The appearance was very nice for an IPA, more on the amber-dark orange color/ hint of light brown versus a pale yellowish-orange like some others. Aroma had a lot of cedar in it, but that cut down some of the other smells of grapefruit, pine, etc. I agree with Changeup that this may be on the dryer side, so maybe I prefer my IPA's non-dry? Still think, for less than half the price, that Bell's Two Hearted might be my favorite IPA, but this may be slightly better in quality. Flavors are a little different so really tough to compare. But for $10/ 750ml, I honestly expected just a little bit more. Worth the try though, especially since I am supporting a local brewery.................................UPDATED 6/22/13: Ok. For this rating what more can you expect? It's one damn good IPA! Now that they are bottling it in 4-packs....get one.....now! TEJA (3444) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 3, 2017
White head that quickly disappear to a thin lace. Very cloudy and not appealing.
Piney and cedar wood aroma.
Sweet maltiness and a rough bitterness. Enniskillen (2061) - Bakersfield, California, USA - JUN 19, 2017
Amber/gold color with a tight off white head. Aroma is a nice balance of floral and spruce, mild maltiness is present. Taste is citrus upfront, mild alcohol, some grass and spruce. Body is firm with some chew to it. Piw (1334) - Rüsselsheim, GERMANY - MAR 17, 2017

Canned. Golden red body, huge fluffy white head. The aroma is a bit weaker but the taste is amazing. Pineapple, peach. Wow.

Draft 12 oz pour at Cigar City. Considering how much of a bitch it ended up being getting down to this fine city, sitting here, and enjoying a taproot exclusive is the definition of relief. Cloudy orange copper pour with a thin fizz head. Aroma is hoppy, fruity, and a bit pepper like, though it is likely a created clone aroma. Big robust flavor, dry, wood finish. Maintained hop quality and orange fruit. I’m just happy to be here. Very unique. Delicious. cecedrake (85) - - FEB 1, 2016
Pours dark amber with thick white head. Aromas of cedar and a lot of hops. Tastes similar with some caramel and spices.Very good. maximum12 (32) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 28, 2016
Thanks to markwise for this crowler. The pour is on the copper/amber end of the spectrum, with slightly lower carbonation than expected, which isn’t too surprising. The nose is top-notch: cedar closet, my grandma’s sweaters, potpourri, sweet honeyed tea, pepper.
Humidor IPA should really be relabeled Humidor Humidor. Massive cedar lumbers all the way through the start, mid-palate, finish, & I’m sure, when I get up to piss in the middle of the night, I’ll still have splinters wedged in my molars. Other than that there’s a vast ocean of sweet malts, sweet honeycomb, faint bell of bitterness ringing (far, far off), & not much else.
I’ve loved the dark, malty Humidor beers in the series, but it just doesn’t work as well with an IPA. Luckily I like cedar & sticky sweet stuff, so it’s still good…but miles wide of the style marker. Svesse (9313) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - JAN 2, 2016
(Bottle) Hazy amber colour with big, frothy, off-white head. Fruity, malty, woody nose with citrus, orange peel, grapefruit, apricots, caramel, rye and fresh aromas of cedar wood. Malty, fruity taste with orange peel, grapefruit, apricot marmalade, caramel, rye, balanced flavours of cedar wood and a generous citric bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Very tasty and well balanced IPA. The cedar wood gives it an extra dimension and stays in good balance, never taking over from the hops. Just a great beer! DandyWolfFloyd (1502) - Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 7, 2015
