Bottle shared at CPK with Ed and Paul. Pourscloudy gold with a white head. Very sharp cedar character overall. Strongpine notes. Big sugar, some almost licorice notes or something. The anise. Strong cedar. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet, sticky finish, notes of pine and grass, sharp grapefruit. Superb.

Cloudy dark orange with a lasting off-white head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, cedar wood and rather hoppy - citrus. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. I’ve never had a beer aged on cedar before. It was great and very different from oak aged beers. 290611

Koelschtrinker (21492) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 30, 2011
10/14/14/15/14/15

Hazy amber color; generous head. The aroma is very spice, with strong incense, and with some piney resins (no fruits). Strong caramel and toffee flavor, within a correct body; smooth, overcarbonated mouthfeel; medium residual sweetness; very resiny, with a sharp spices and incense profile. Strong bitterness, leading to a long final.
Surely original, and interesting the first time, but excessive.

Bottle from Skjold Burne. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are peach, grapefruit, flowers, caramel, hops and malt.

mcberko (18981) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 17, 2011
UPDATED: APR 18, 2011 750mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks Dany), pours hazy bright orange with a big white head. Aroma is very spicy, with chili pepper-like spice, slight citrus and cedar. Flavour is also very spicy, with the cedar upfront and citrus hops further back. The barrels give this a very odd flavour and texture. Interesting, but not close to as good as the regular Jai Alai.

Amber. Basically bright with a thick head that dies down, leaving a thick lace on the glass. Rich woody aroma with earthy, fruity hops - complex nose for an IPA. Heavy cedar character - very woody. The malts are big, slightly sticky and with a biscuity taste. There is a lot of bitterness, too, earthy and with some citrus and resiny notes. Bold brew, my type of IPA.

UPDATED: SEP 11, 2012 New rating: Cask at Pony Bar, NYC. Cedar aroma, woody, malty, hay, apples, grass, pear, some roasted notes, citrus. Such a change from the bottle version. Cedar flavor, fruity, hoppy, woody, some grass, hay, pine apple, grapes, pear. Old rating: 2.4. Bottle at CCB Day, Sätila 2012-07-07. Hazy golden beer with a small offwhite head. Cedar aroma. Way too much cedar. Hoppy and fruity. Cedar flavor, again way too much. Hoppy and fruity once you manage to get behind the massive wall of cedar. Why mess up a good beer!
