I think this was a success all around with the Minnesota crew. Gold color. Hops nose. Flavor has bitter hops, with a medicinal quality, and a taste & aroma of wet cedar. Dry and quite bitter. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 5, 2009

Source:750 mL bottle at a Nashville tasting.
Appearance:Hazy light amber pour with a two finger white head.
Aroma:Combination of citrus hops and a humidor. Cedar and tobacco.
Flavor:Heavy cedar and tobacco presence, with a mild citrus finish.
Palate:Medium body with solid carbonation.
Overall:I was the only one at the tasting who didn’t care for this one. The cedar was too prominent in my opinion.
Bottle shared by ygtbsm94: Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with a clingy-lacing white head. Aroma of fresh grapefruity resiny hops and some fresh woody cedar notes with some underlying caramel malty sweetness. Starts with good fullness and malty sweetness with a juicy fresh hoppy balance and woody cedar complexity before a drier earthy bittersweet finish. A unique and enjoyable IPA. Bottle Pours out a hazy peach juice color topped with a small sand head. Aroma was oak and ceder notes. The aroma reminds me of my wifes hope chest that sits at the foot of out bed. Taste the wood, some bread notes, along with some wet citrus hops. A bitter end on this one. Thanks ditmier

Sample provided by Skyview. Thanks! Pour is amber orange with a decent sized head. Cedar wood. Strong pine and oak, complimenting the citrus flavors of a regular IPA. Very unique and really a wonderful effort here. Probably up there with my favorite CC beers of the night. Exquisite! coyotehunter (698) - , Michigan, USA - SEP 29, 2009
750ml bottle. Pours a dirty orange with a big ass head. Aromas waver between lemons, oranges, some weird ass melon smell, and more citrus. Taste is about the same, dominated by citrus. A hint of wood shows through a bit...must be the cedar, as its a strange wood flavor. Very different for an IPA, but its definitely a good different. nbutler11 (1267) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - SEP 28, 2009
I squealed like a little girl when rustychiles put this one on the table -- many thanks! Pours reddish-orange initially and butterscotch toward the end of the bottle. Incredible cedar wood aroma -- really lives up to the Cigar City name, and seems to unify the flavor. Tastes of juicy citrus, pine, bitter hops, black and red peppercorns, and tobacco leaves. Excellent. MrBunn (2826) - The Wet Side of a Dry Town, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 28, 2009
UPDATED: AUG 9, 2010 Second rating (original rating 9.28.2009) Aroma is much different than my initial observations. This batch smells like a cigar shop... cedar and cedar and a bit of the fruit I picked out my first go round. Flavor starts with a massive punch of cedar (Humidor Series is a brilliant name... it’s like smelling and then drinking a cigar shop). The cedar yields to malt and then hops presences... malt is mostly a short biscuit and caramel jab and then the hops grass, citrus and light pine take it home. This is much more aggressive with the cedar than the last time I had this and it is much improved. (Original score: 7, 4, 8, 4, 17)
Bottle with thanks to Matt. It has a murky apricot color to it and a massive sudsy head. As I draw my nose near, I’m struck by how different this is than my expectations. Smells like lemon and melons. Maybe even guavas. Flavor is also very fruit/sweet dominated. Lots of citrus even though it seems more like grapefuit now with some of that odd melon presence. This is good and very different than I had guessed. Rusty (1547) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - SEP 27, 2009
