Everything that hunaphu can do and add perfect barrel aging, this is amazing!! hopdog (12584) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 15, 2013
750ml bottle. Poured a black color with a small sized tan head. Bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits, roast, and roasty. Didn’t really get any peppers or spices (which really isn’t a bad thing as this beer still was great). LoveTheDark (1) - - MAR 17, 2013 does not count
I had one beer left from my Christmas variety pack of Dark beers and this was it. I wish I had opened this one earlier, rather than the Yeti....
Anyway, it poured out like used motor oil-dark, syruppy and aromatic. Choclotty, and hints of vanilla...but overpowerring chocolate... Amazing stuff. I wish the taste lived up to the promise of the aroma...but it doesn’t. The aroma promises 150% and you get 80%.. Not really complaining, the aroma says your gonna spin hops into platinum, and you only get gold. I can live with it. I will be looking for it next time I go for a dark beer. RBWG 2013 Grand Tasting.
Black with a thin tan head.
Complex aroma. Chocolate, vanilla, leather, dark fruits.
The flavor is all of the aroma with a great bourbon touch; not too much, not too little. Very well done. SudsMcDuff (8429) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - MAR 5, 2013

Bottle "shared" at RBWG. Danish Pour. Black with a small tan head. Nose is sweet, chocolate, bourbon is a little toned down from what I Imagine it once was, vanilla, not much pepper/spice. Flavor is similar. I kinda feel like the heat from Hunahpu is what really makes it unique and its all but lost when its put in these potent liquor barrels. I liked this more than the whiskey barrel, but I still haven’t found one I like more than the original. jbruner (4747) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - MAR 1, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 21, 2013 Bottle shared at RBWG! Pours an opaque black with fluffy brown head that dissipates to leave light lacing and a nice brown film on the glass. Aroma of sweet vanilla, dark chocolate, hint of bourbon booziness, roasted malts, and slight dark fruity esters. Taste follows, just a hint of spice, not as much as I was expecting, but the barrel aging probably allowed it to fall out. Thick and dense on the mouth, sticks to the back of your tongue. This was probably the best beer of RBWG, in my opinion. aracauna (3606) - Georgia, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Really balanced bourbon aging. Sweet chocolate and anise. Mild bourbon. Delicious. Leighton (21296) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 23, 2013
Bottle at RBWG 2013 Grand Tasting. Pours oily black with a creamy, brown head. Lots of sugary dark malts on the nose. Dense chocolate. Big sweet flavor, lots of dark fruits, mellow alcohol, slight tang, cherries, raisins. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with hefty cocoa, light roast, light earthy bitterness, chocolate cake. Incredibly rich, nicely nuanced. stevencon (522) - Sarasota, Florida, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Rbwg! Ultra black pour dark tan head. Big bourbon aroma and taste. Coconut chocolate but not much of the chili and cinnamon I love about regular hunahpu. Great beer but I want more pepper spice.
