Ancient rating from Hunahpu’s Day 2012, I recently found my tasting notes. Figured why waste good ticks…remember this being a highlight beer of the day. The oak, vanilla bourbon was perfect with the slight heat and chocolate of huny. A nice kick of coconut and boozy heat. Man, it was good. alalvarez75 (57) - New York, USA - APR 25, 2012
On tap at Hunapu’s day.
There is something to this barrel. The whiskey flavor is prevalent is a smooth mellow way with a little of the heat of whiskey. Chilli is slightly present with a ton of chocolate. This is my favorite of the 5 treatments thus far. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - APR 9, 2012
Served in a Hunahpu’s snifter.
Pours near black with a very dark brown head and decent retention. Some spotty lacing and a thin collar as the beer goes down.
The nose carries some beautiful notes of wood and spice. The whiskey, oak, and base-beer chili peppers really combine into a mesmerizing melange of depth. Really, really impressive. My favorite nose on a Hunahpu’s variant to date. The flavor isn’t quite as integrated and the whiskey takes over a bit more, but the cinnamon and heat follow through the finish. Touch of vanilla and chocolate.
Overall, a really fantastic beer that I was thrilled to try. Hunahpu’s itself is my favorite stout, and this somehow improved on the already-decadent nose.

Draft… Hunahpu’s Day 2012... This beer rocks!… Pours black (as only Wayne can brew ’em) with a small, creamy, light brown head. Decent retention. Chocolate malt, black malt, sourmash whiskey, oak, vanilla, caramel and coconut. Full-bodied and uber-velvety with modest carbonation. The hearty, carbonic flavor is a bittersweet blend of vanilla, sourmash whiskey, mocha and cinnamon. Decadent and a wee bit tropical. Finishes hearty, burnt and rich with undertones of vanilla, cinnamon and charcoal. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 21, 2012
sampled at hunahpus day 2012 courtesy of one of justin’s buddies... pours like hunahpus should. thick black oily full and topped with a thin wispy film of deeper tan head... aroma of bourbon with rich bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, and coconut from the palm ridge. some fading cinnamon perhaps but most of the spice, the pepper particularly were for the most part absent but expected... flavors are more of the same with an assertive robust profile that is accentuated by the palm ridge. decadent thick chocolate flavors, semi-sweet, with adequate barrel impartations. full-bodied but not overwhelmingly so. very nice but wish there was some remnants of a spicy kick to it.

On tap at Hunapu’s day. Joan Jett black pour with a chocolate head. Straight Palm Ridge Whiskey aromas. Another stunner from the CCB crew. Thick and chewy. Lots of whiskey mixed with uber dark roasted malts, bitter cacao, smooth caramel and chocolate, a hint of soy sauce that I don’t usually find in Huanahpu’s, and the heat from the chills is a little more muted that usual. Overall just another out-freaking-standing stout from Cigar City.... Chipalsa (1310) - Florida, USA - MAR 16, 2012
Poured like the other Hunaphpus - with a nice dark body and head. Nose is full of chocolate, oak and vanilla with some spices lingering. What separated this one was the mellow whiskey flavor in the background among the coffee and cocoa notes. Sweet, spicy and thick was the finish - a great sipper. burg326 (5482) - Florida, USA - MAR 13, 2012
On draft, poured a dark sticky black color with thick tan head. Aromas of chocolate, cinnamon, macaroons, and smooth whisky. Flavor is much the same with a kiss of oak dancing in the background. I was lucky enough for CCB to ask me to pour it that day, glad I was able to so I could secure a taste of this magnificent brew. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 13, 2012
On draft at Hunahpu Day 2012. Poured a bruiser black color with a dark tan head. Nose is a little roast, coconut, vanilla, slight cinnamon, some spices, and chocolate fighting to get through. Flavor is similar- a bruiser of a stout; thick and mealy while the vanilla and coconut flavors meld in with the cinnamon, spice, and chocolate of Hunahpu. Very nice. Nose is boozey whiskey with some chocolate, and coconut. Pour is jet black with that khaki head. Nice. Taste is plenty of whiskey vanilla notes and sweetness with loads of chocolate and coconut. Some cinnamon is still in this mix, not overpowered by the whiskey. Great stuff.
