COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
So, what you have here is a high gravity porter brewed with lactose and aged in whiskey barrels. It tastes like catching your favorite song on the radio with hints of the parking meter expiring, but not getting a ticket. It’s good.

Bottle thank to burg. Dark brown, just about black pour with a decent brown head, faded in quick fashion to a collar around the glass. Aroma was big sweet bourbon up front, melted candy bar, vanilla and a light roast. Reminded me a bit of Older Viscosity in the nose. Flavors were big big big. Bourbon, lots of milk sugar, cocoa powder, hint of roast, sweet finish. Mouthfeel was a bit creamy, carbonation light. Almost like a more drinkable Older Viscosity. Not nearly as sweet and viscous. Quite boozy and hot in the finish. Damn good but definitely a bottle to be shared.

750ml bottle shared by drowland at pre-GTMW 2011 tasting, pours a very dark brown with a thin tannish head, aroma has hints of chocolate, toffee, coffee and a hint of booze, the flavor is sweet with a decent amount of wood and chocolate in the finish, thanks for sharing Danny!

750ml bottle shared at a tasting - thanks to whoever brought this one. Very dark brown, near black, in color with a small light tan head. The aroma has big Stranahan’s whiskey, caramel, roast, sugar, and chocolate. The flavor has a great caramel and toffee malt base with minimal flashiness, just some ash and a great balanced whiskey presence. Some oak barrel. Medium-full bodied with medium-low carbonation and not too much booziness. Solid -bal aged porter, very well done.

750 ml bottle shared at Pre-GTMW Tasting (Madison, WI). Pours a near pitchblack pour, almost opaque, with some touches of light on the edges and bottom, but near nothing. A small to decent frothy offwhite head dies to small ring, faint to small lacing. Aromas are whiskey and lactose, touches of roast, sweet milk chocolate, toffee, vanilla. Some light coffee, but sweeter oatmeal, chocolate. Initial is sweeter, medium bodied with sweet lactose, milk chocolate, caramel, toffee, wet whiskey, vanilla tannins, oak, toffee. Into thje back it lightens up, the barrel isn’t strong, but provides a healthy kiss. Finish is sweet, lingering roast, whiskey, decent barrel presence, toffee, vanilla. Mmmmm. Pretty good. Perhaps a touch thin, the flavors are quite nice though.

Bottle. Dark brown/black pour with an off white head. Whiskey & chocolate aromas. Dark roasted malts, sweet lactose, chocolate, and mellow whiskey notes. Well balanced..

Bottle... Dark brown, light tan head... Creamy fudge with, a touch of smoke, lactose too much... Taste is a touch boring, light flavor and feel, lactose with a smooth whiskey finish, creamy, solid, a bit boring

8/12/11. 750mL bottle. Subtle barrel aroma with oak and vanilla if you search for it, on top of sweet stout and a bit of roast. Sweet milk stout taste with a touch of barrel - pretty subtle again... awesome silky mouthfeel. Pretty good.

750ml bottle courtesy of biggsbowler. thanks, randall! pours exactly like an imperial porter should with a dark, cola-brown color topped by a smooth, creamy, light khaki head that leaves light lacing and sticky rings of lace. aroma is simply wonderful with big notes of fresh baked fudge, graham crackers, and toasted marshmallow (s’mores anyone?!) backed by roasted malts, fresh espresso, and rich vanilla with more subtle notes of whiskey, oak, and brown sugar as it warms. flavor is outstanding as well with a more pronounced presence of roasted malts, espresso, and dark chocolate backed by cookie dough, graham cracker, pralines, and sweet lactose with the bold notes of whiskey, charred oak, and vanilla emerging on the back end. palate is medium bodied with smooth carbonation and a lingering finish of fresh baked cookies and rich whiskey. overall, another wonderful barrel aged beer from CCB.

My 100th cigar city beer! Deep dark brown pour, fairly small beige head. Nice fudge, bourbon, vanilla and some oak. Sweet bourbon goodness, fudge, vanilla, toffee...outstanding!
