COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
So, what you have here is a high gravity porter brewed with lactose and aged in whiskey barrels. It tastes like catching your favorite song on the radio with hints of the parking meter expiring, but not getting a ticket. It’s good.

Courtesy of godofthunder. Pours pitch black with a small tabned bubbly head. Aroma is sweet malty a bit acidy sourish fruity roasted drinkable very nice. Flavor goes hand in hand with aroma. Finishes longlived bitter roasted.

750ml bottle thanks to j. Thanks dude... Pours a deeper cola dark brown with a reddish brown edges and topped with a thin creamy white head... Aroma of softer whiskey, not much wood, subtle vanilla. Sweeter backend... Flavors are more of the same with a semi-sweet whiskey presence with milk chocolate and light roast. Thin to medium bodied with a semi-sweet finish.

Split a bottle with some buds at Coffee District. Great way to end the night. Lots of bourbon flavors still floating around mixed with chocolate lactose as well. Drinking very well right now.

Reddish black with a thin off white head. Huge whiskey barrel, vanilla, hints of dark fruit and roasted grain aroma. Taste is crisp and roasty malt, some lactose with a faint dark fruit note. Very complex and makes you want to get the next sip as soon as you can so you can find a new flavor. Awesome.

Appearance: black cream – like velvet. Soft khaki head swirls dark and lingers with a clumpy splotch in the middle of a dark abyss.
Nose: malted milk, caramel, vanilla, cream, and melted marshmallow. Chocolate in the back. Like sitting in front of a fireplace with the warmth seeping into your bones while supping on the melted delights of all the above…and I’m not even supping yet. Wowsers! Sweet caramel laced smoke and peat. Fudge and caramel candies. Milk duds.
Palate: creamy with oily notes of peat. More caramel in the back with warmth. Frothy soft whipped cream and marshmallow mouthfeel. Did I mention marshmallows? Malt balls and milk duds melt in the mouth, not in the hands. Warm yet cool ooey gooey melty goodness reveals cigar leaf oils and a tribute to my favorite coffee additive – Kahlua. Fudge underneath. Vanilla cream with more caramel and Kahlua.
Final Thoughts: omg!!!! I should have bought more of these when Laura and I were at the brewery a few months ago. I’m just now getting to my tasting notes, but in recollection it all comes back and, suffice to say, I’m thirsty. Decadence.

750 ml bottle. Pours a deep, dark brown, not quite opaque, with a tiny tan head that becomes a small ring. Aroma of whiskey, lactose, molasses, toffee, vanilla, and chocolate, with a wee bit of heat. Flavor of chocolate, whiskey, oak, vanilla, lactose, molasses, earth, and coffee. Medium-bodied, with mellow carbonation and a creamy, roasty mouthfeel. Very good. Love the balance of lacto creaminess and whiskey notes.

Appearance: Pours a dark brown with tan edges.

Aroma: Milk chocolate, roast, caramel, sweet bourbon.

Taste: Chocolate, caramel, roast. Wood, whiskey finish.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied. Creamy with perfect level of carbonation.

Overall: Cigar City is my go too for the big decadent stouts and porters. This isn’t their number one hit in that group, but it’s very close.

Hoped for a little more out of this. Very plain but still nice and drinkable. The base beer is rather lacking in flavors even for a milk porter. The whiskey and barrel characteristics are nice and subtle which is welcomed because the base beer doesnt have the backbone to stand up to a strong barrel profile. Good nonetheless.

750, great barrel aging flavors, sweet whiskey. The background beer doesn’t have enough to balance it however. Still, I’m loving their approach to milk porter. Red robin. Yum.
