COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jai Alai India Pale Ale pays tribute to the original extreme sport. Jai Alai, a game native to the Basque region of Spain, is played on a court called a fronton. Jai Alai players attempt to catch a ball using a curved mitt, whilst the ball travels at speeds of up to 188 miles per hour! Proving they have a sense of humor the Spanish dub this game, with its ball traveling at race car speeds, """"the merry game."""" Tampa was once home to a busy Jai Alai fronton but sadly all that remains of Jai Alai in the Tampa Bay area is this India Pale Ale that we brew in tribute to the merry game. The India Pale Ale style of beer has its roots in the strong ales sent from England to thirsty British troops in India during the 18th century. To survive the journey the beers needed more alcohol and more hops (which act as a natural preservative). This big brewing practice made India Pale Ale one of the first """"extreme beers"""" and a favorite among the Queens military men in India. Eventually it became a favorite style of the new crop of American brewers seeking more flavor and complexity than mass-market brewers were willing to offer.

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2016 Updating my rating as its been a few years and this time it was fresher and canned vs. older and bottled where it may have been compromised. Anyway, still think its overhyped but it is a good IPA nonetheless.

On tap poured into shaker. Medium lacing. Citrus bomb aroma which lingers on the palate. But somewhat smooth. My first Cigar City brew that wont be my last. Good brew.

Tiszta narancssrga szn, szolid, gyorsan eltűnő hab. Gymlcss illat, ahogy egy iphoz illik. Fanyar narancsos, ananszos z. Kzepesen keserű. Fantasztikus.

Nice sweet aroma with a strong dose of pine hops. Simple but good. Amber color dark for the style with an off white tuft of foam. Very drinkable with only a moderate punch of earthy hops at the end. Very dense palate for an IPA which I liked. This was good. I would drink it again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can @ home. Slightly hazy orange colour with a small off-white head. Smells hops, fruity, pine, fresh. Tastes fruity, hops, fresh, bitter. This is seriously close to a perfect IPA. Or what I think a perfect IPA should be like at least. Lovely beer. Medium body, crisp, perfect carbo. Love it.
