COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Jai Alai India Pale Ale pays tribute to the original extreme sport. Jai Alai, a game native to the Basque region of Spain, is played on a court called a fronton. Jai Alai players attempt to catch a ball using a curved mitt, whilst the ball travels at speeds of up to 188 miles per hour! Proving they have a sense of humor the Spanish dub this game, with its ball traveling at race car speeds, """"the merry game."""" Tampa was once home to a busy Jai Alai fronton but sadly all that remains of Jai Alai in the Tampa Bay area is this India Pale Ale that we brew in tribute to the merry game. The India Pale Ale style of beer has its roots in the strong ales sent from England to thirsty British troops in India during the 18th century. To survive the journey the beers needed more alcohol and more hops (which act as a natural preservative). This “big” brewing practice made India Pale Ale one of the first """"extreme beers"""" and a favorite among the Queens military men in India. Eventually it became a favorite style of the new crop of American brewers seeking more flavor and complexity than mass-market brewers were willing to offer.

Pours a burnt orange with a thin, frothy white head that leaves sticky lacing on the glass. Smells of pine resin, tangerine, and grapefruit. Taste like taking a big bite out of a fresh juicy orange. The hops balance the sweet tropical fruit notes, leaving a faint peppery bitterness on the palate. Definitely not as dry as most IPAs of this caliber. Very well made beer. Has a nice full, creamy, mouthfeel. Not overly crisp like some IPAs. I’m a huge fan of IPAs and this is among the best I’ve had.

Aromas dominated by citrus - mostly orange and a bit of grapefruit. There are some balancing bready aromas, presumably from the malt. The color is a clear light amber with a small off-white head. Taste is somewhat dry and while there is a strong hop presence it is not especially bitter. The body is medium; texture a little oily; carbonation average to just very slightly lively; the finish is fairly long with bready and an attractive citrus fruit flavor. Overall I like this beer quite a bit. The hops have an attractive citrus (orange and grapefruit) flavor without too much bitterness and the malt is prominent enough to provide some balance. Overall it all works quite well together.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2018 1/18/18 Had with Abby while watching 50 first dates and eating Savas pizza. Poured from can. Deep amber with a pillowy white head. Nose is lots of grapefruit hops. Very fruity. Taste is lots of grapefruit pith but well balanced by some caramel malt. Pretty sweet on the tongue and bitter hops on the finish. Medium palate and easy-drinking. Overall, and excellent IPA that is assertively hoppy but well-balanced. Love it.

Can. Amber cloudy, nice head and good carbonation. Smell the forest, resin, pound leaves and hop pellets. Definitely appealing. Taste of resin very quickly followed by tropical fruits, litchis. Interesting but could last longer though, because it is pretty bitter, and it takes over too much the palate. Nonetheless a great one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma is grassy hops. Very earthy. White head and an orange colored body, a little hazy. Tastes citrusy and sweet with some hop bitterness. Lively carbonation with creamy texture. Heard it's brewed in North Carolina, that's not what I wanna sample when I'm in Florida!!
