Bottle. Pours brown with a tan head. Flavor is chocolate, roasted malts, nuts... very drinkable and hides the ABV well. mlunger12 (645) - Orlando, Florida, USA - NOV 9, 2010
On Tap at Fermentation Lounge. A deep deep deep black, smells of coffee and deliciousness. Wow, even at 8% I have to stop myself from gulping. Coffee deliciousness. GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 9, 2010
12oz courtesy of tastybeer. Pours a clear cola with a thin, tan head that leaves big sheety lacing. Aroma is straight up chocolate milkshake, very rich chocolate. Taste is hoppy, biting, cocoa, milk chocolate. Full-bodied but easy to drink. Palate moves from dry cocoa powder to near chalky and cardboardy. Pretty solid porter and simply well made. Reminds me of something Williamsburg AleWerks would do. Doesn’t come across as 8% from the nice hop balancing. mattyb83 (737) - Minnesota, USA - NOV 4, 2010
From a bottle. Pour is deep brown with a large khaki head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and citrus hops coming through. Flavor starts of bitter and astringent, and slowly gives way to chocolate flavors. Finishes bitter and still slightly astringent. The bitterness is a bit too strong for me, and covers up the richer malt flavors. Thanks for the bottle JW! douglas88 (9789) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 2, 2010
12 ounce bottle thanks to Kan. Pours a black hue with a large brown creamy head. A great roasted malt nose with some hops and smoke. The flavor is very damn good; smoke, huge pine-like hops, rich roasted malts, cocoa, chocolates. Smooth and very flavorful. Lovely. A creamy palate.

on tap-pours a rich brown head that laces and cloudy dark brown color. Aroma is rich dark malt, pine. Porter? Taste is biting earthy hops, secondary dark malt. Hopper (827) - San Antonio, Texas, USA - OCT 29, 2010
12 oz. brown bottle from 50belair. A dark brown beer with a small but nice head. The aroma smells like cola, chocolate, roast. A nice aroma. The taste has some nice dark fruit and a roasted malt taste that seems to add some bitterness although this is a pretty hoppy porter. There is some chocolate but more along the lines of unsweetened bakers chocolate which makes it a little rugged. This is a nice porter and I like it. redlight (2325) - Orlando, Florida, USA - OCT 28, 2010
draft @ redlight redlight. Big roasted malt nose with piney hops. Pours black with a thick tan head. Roasted malts with tobacco and bitter grapefruit with pine resin and traces of smoke. Damn good! deyholla (12582) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 27, 2010
Bottle shared by Shane, thanks! Poured a very dark brown with a dark tan head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had notes of caramel, sweet chocolate and a some sweet roasted malts. Flavor was similar with caramel and sweet chocolate with a roasted finish. Brigadier (3780) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - OCT 26, 2010
12 oz bottle
A big fan of imperial porters I was looking forward to this from the time I found it on the site while idly browsing. When the box from Florida arrived it went right to the front of the line. It did not quite meet my expectations. Even so this was a very well crafted beer that deserves a shot. Coming from one of the best breweries in the country I think it sets the bar for what can be done. Even if it is not the best in class it is no slouch.
Aroma / Appearance - Fluid and black the body was decorated with a top like powdered chocolate. Sheer and clingy the lacing was smooth along the sides of the glass. Cocoa, ash, and spiced hot chocolate warm the senses. A little bit different than what I was expecting it was still above average and inviting.
Flavor / Palate - Thick and chewy like a beer milkshake the mouthfeel is rich and robust. Chocolate, smoke, and traces of anise linger on the palate. Heavy on the malt it doesn’t hold back. At the same time I feel it could be a little thicker. Overall it feels like a cousin of Southern Tier Choklat.
