kimjongill (207) - - JUN 3, 2013
Tap a Philly beer week. smell is light and of bourbon. Black pour with thin tan head. Good for a porter.great thick and creamy mouthfeel. Taste leaves much to be desired. Still good, just with Ann overly strong barrel taste that consumes the beer.

Pours unclear dark brownish black with a beige head. Aroma brings some sweet bourbon and brown sugar malts. Flavor is smooth, no heat at all, some light vanilla and bourbon roasted malt flavors ona decently thick body.

TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 29, 2013
Growler shared at Dark Lord Day (Munster, IN). Pours a deeper blackish brown hue, some plum glow, small tannish head dies to a film, laces small. Mellow haze, deeper brown body shows light. Aromas are some cocoa, dry roast, and mellow florals. Some oak, touches of spirit and vanilla. Roast, caramel, and a decent dryness. Touch of heat is a bit strong. Initial is medium bodied, a bit thin. Firm barrel presence, oak and some Bourbon. Oak, vanilla, and a bit roasty. Almost a dry minty spirit hit. Some nuttiness, earth. A bit richer roast, dry and cool quality as we finish up. A bit odd, a touch thin and hot. Some good flavors. Not bad.

Draft at DLD - pours brown with tan head. Nose is bourbon and soy sauce. Coffee flavors dominated by the barrel. Malty. Sweet. Dry. Woody after taste.

Growler pour courtesy of Adam / burg, thanks. Pours a deep brownish black body with thin tan spotty lacing. Aroma is full of bourbon, oak, dark chocolate and malt. Mouthfeel is medium to light with notes of bourbon, chocolate, sweet caramel malt, booze and oak. Nice treatment.
