Dark mahogany pour with scarlet and chestnut at its edges. Tightly packed latte head. Caramel, toffee, cocoa, bourbon and wood in the nose. Flavor shows a decent amount of bourbon but not as much of the other barrel qualities. Vanilla, chocolate, subtle coffee, and some dark fruit. A tad thin. Not a bad beer but was looking for just a bit more.

This one poured a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma was roast, dark chocolate, wood, light Bourbon. Flavor was similar, a little bit more thin than their other dark beers and lesser barrel, but still a tasty brew.

Bottle @ Richards tasting. Reddish brown pour with a tan head. Kind of a boozy aroma. Bourbon, grape, plum, and roasted malts. Light vanilla, brown sugar, and chocolate. Flavors of bourbon, grape, and brown sugar. Sweet vanilla, chocolate, and plum. Roasted malt, licorice, and a touch of booze.

750mL. Pours deep, inky red. Low foam. Nose is sticky, malted milk balls, stickier tomato paste style bourbon. Taste, though, is excellent with dense maple, salted rich chocolate, vanilla, rich caramel, flan dessert. Rich, decadent, oily palate. Nice.

Bottle thanks to Sean, opened at a dinner party so notes are a little spotty. Pours hazy chestnut with a small tan head that dissipates quickly and leaves some lacing. Aroma is malty, cocoa, roasty, bourbon, coffee, tobacco. Flavor is about the same, medium sweet with some bitterness. Quite a bit of bourbon going on, including some woody astringence. Just a bit of anise, which is good. Medium body. Nice enough beer!

Bottle .. Deep brown .. Mild bourbon and toasted dirt .. Didnt quite do it for me, a bit muddled .. . . If youre calling the cops "dude" as theyre arresting you then its probably a safe bet that you have bigger problems than going to jail.

Thanks to DocJ007 for sharing this one with a whole bunch of us. Drank right after the non BA version.

A - Pours deep dark brown with a small half finger tall khaki colored head, dissipating down to a light film, leaving light strings of lace down parts of the glass.

S - Smells of dark roasted malt, dulled vanilla and chocolatey sweetness, light smokiness and only the faintest hint of bourbon. Right away I could tell this one wasnt right, I even re-read the description to make sure I read it right the first time. It has a really wired fruitiness and very little bourbon notes.

T - Taste is just like the nose. It starts off with the dark roasted malt and light sweetness and then things take a turn for the worse. There is a weird mix of smoke and light fruitiness that clashes with all of the other flavors. On top of that the bourbon is almost non existent, which is really eye raising. Finish is rather harsh with a bit of booze burn, combined with the thin feel it doesnt linger on the palate for very long.

M - Medium body with moderately low carbonation. The weird fruitiness combined with the thin, roasty feel is not helping things at all.

O - There was more than half the bottle left at the end of the night and nobody was rushing over to finish it. A bourbon barrel porter with no bourbon presence and a light fruitiness? I dont want to say this bottle was infected but it definitely wasnt right.
