Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 12, 2012
Draft @ Hunahpuh day. Brown-black with tan head. Crisp, delightful and smooth aroma like a cool Baltic Sea breeze on a spring day. Mellow with no roast but does have some coffee undercurrent beneath the rich, salty soil. Marmite. Silky, smooth, and healthy. Rich ganache of dark chocolate-mocha. Smooth, well-put together, and sublime beer, even if it does not really taste like a strict Baltic porter.

Black pour with a frothy tan head that fades out to a foam slick. Aroma is dry roast, bitterness, soft chocolate, and raisin through the finish. Taste is focused roasted malt, some chocolate, ash, a bit of char, perhaps minimal coffee buried within the roast, and a noticeable raisin character through and after the finish. Mouthfeel is bone dry precise - no loose ends on this beer. Very enjoyable beer and I particularly like the focused, sharp presentation.

Poured at CCB. Pours black, thin khaki head, very nice lacing. Roasty aroma, dark malt, dry grain, a little sweetness. Pretty roasty, nice light dark fruit, medium body, sweet lingering finish. Nice beer, good job CCB.

Draft… This beer rocks!… Pours mostly black with a small, creamy, mushroom-colored head. The bold, luxuriant bouquet furnishes plenty of singed malts intertwined with dark fruits and an enjoyable nuttiness. Full-bodied and oily with stinging carbonation. The flavor is sweet, but also charred - pouch tobacco, molasses, dark chocolate and black malt/espresso-like bitterness. The finale consists of a nice, burnt, bittersweet slow-fade. World class Baltic porter!

On tap at the source... Pours a deeper cola hued consistency with deeper reddish brown edges and topped with a medium khaki tan head that slowly reduces to a thicker ring around the edges if the glass... Sweet cocoa and moderate roasty malt component. Dark fruit surfaces late to coincide with the aforementioned... Flavors are not overly sweet with an earthy cocoa chocolate note to coincide with a meshing note of roasted malt. Again dak fruits come through late. Perfect amount of sweetness that never becomes overbearing. Dryness cuts through any lingering residual sweetness. Pretty nice.

Riktigt god.
