Bottle @ Milan-PSV after warm up. Trade with AdamJackson. Pours deep ruby brown with a small creamy head. Nose is complex and vinous. Thick caramel, oak, apple, brandy, fruit and liquorice. Exceptionel. Thick and syrupy flavor with notes of apple, caramel, fruit, wood and licorice. Vinous and soft. A sipper with lots of depth and complexity.

Shared by BVery at RBSG. Been wanting to try this for a while. Apple and booze in the nose. Big boozy taste. Correction, huge boozy taste. This is a beast!

750 ml bottle shared by DrSilverworm. Pours a hazy dark caramel brown color with a medium sized off colored beige head. The aroma and flavor have decadent sweet caramel, brown sugar, barrel notes, apple brandy and vanilla. Thick mouth feel and a sipper for sure. What a treat.

Bomber into a CC snifter. Thick brown pour with small head and little retention. Nose is sweet malt, caramel, apple, booze, vanilla, and toffee. Taste follows the nose with a nice brandy bite. I enjoyed Cognac Church more but this is still a monster and worth having in the cellar.

Bottle, thanks to Adam! Aroma: big toffee and dark caramel up front, nice dose of brandy, a faint hint of oak, rich malt and some sweetness, cocoa and dark fruit, very nice. Appearance: copper-light brown pour, thin tan head that’s fairly short lived. Flavor: rich caramel, toast and biscuit, some chocolate and plenty of toffee. Definitely somewhat sweet, but well balanced with warming alcohol and a bit of bitterness. Slightly nutty, a touch of roast, brandy is displayed nicely - sweetness and some spicy alcohol, noticeable apple note. Palate: full body, low-med carbonation, smooth, great finish - on the malty/sweet side. Overall: great brew, well balanced between malt, sweetness, and barrel/spirits.

Shared by nulledge during RBWG and during the epic BA barleywine tasting (6/29/13). Amber pour with a small khaki head. Rich toffee in the aroma with caramel, sweet brandy, grapes, and light nuttiness. Rich flavor with plenty of BA, sweet brandy, vanilla, toffee, light nuttiness, and burnt caramel. Tasty!

Bottle shared by GoT: Poured a black with red hint, the head was light brown. Aroma was strong alcohol, dark fruits, brandy booziness. Taste is strong with booziness, sweet sticky vanilla/toffee, fruit, malts. Although high alcohol is present it has a nice balance.

ksurkin (1021) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - JUN 6, 2013
750ml bottle via trade. pours a dusky, hazy, deep copper that’s capped by a thin but creamy khaki head leaving sticky rings of lace on the glass. aroma is simply stellar with heavy notes of fresh cut oak, baked apple pie, vanilla creme, and toffee pralines backed by unique hints of tropical florals, perfume, glaced pineapple, cotton candy, and orange julius. flavor is is more traditional but nothing short of spectacular with sweet toffee, caramel pecans, vanilla, and rich oak backed by subtly tart dark fruits, warming brandy, cocoa, and just a touch of the tropical fruit from the aroma coming through late. palate is rich, full bodied, and delicately carbonated with a lingering finish of dark fruit, toffee, and brandy. overall, a stellar effort from CCB.
