From notes. Tasted on 10/21/12 from a capped 750mL bottle. Pours a very deep, dark brown with an average tan head that slowly recedes to thin, whispy lace. The nose is sweet raisin, caramel, maple, vanilla, date, brown sugar, and some brandy heat. The flavor is all about the sweet dried fruit up front with the vanilla brandy, and moving to just a touch of roast and the lightest bitterness. The body is super full with less than average, but just the right amount of carbonation, and a long brandy heat and woody vanilla finish. This is an excellent barley wine. theothermatt (286) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - JAN 2, 2015
Bottle from El Catador. Big and rich nose of booze, caramel, raisins, figs and apples. Really rich and sweet. Lots of dark fruits. Very little booziness that I get off the nose. As is warms if gets even a bit sweeter and oak and apple shine though. Ed5388 (3477) - Forked River, New Jersey, USA - NOV 10, 2014
750ml bottle shared by dmac! Big thanks bro! Poured a dirty brown color with almost no head. Aroma of brandy, oak, lots of toffee, caramel, and booze. Taste is similar to the nose. Brandy, oak, vanilla, lots of toffee, molasses, hints of lemon zest, and a bit earthy. dmac (6259) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - NOV 1, 2014
750ml bottle via trade. Poured a not so good looking muddy deep brown body with a smaller tight foamy beige head. Aroma is solid, notes of toffee, caramel, wood, toast, slight brandy and wood, touch of vanilla. Body is bigger, softer carbonation, chalky with a lingering aftertaste. Flavor is much lke the aroma, brandy, wood, vanilla, apple brandy, caramel, molasses, toffee and vanilla pudding. Solid beer with very well hidden ABV. bytemesis (8360) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - OCT 23, 2014
Bottle from 2012. Pours cloudy hazel, small tan head with some lacing. Aroma is malty, toffee, molasses, vanilla, brandy, apples. Flavor is fully sweet, light bitter, apple brandy prominent. Full body, rich creamy mouthfeel. Pretty solid.

Bottle sent to me by Jim. Many thanks!
A: Dark mahogany with a thin cappuccino head.
N: Licorice, anise, toffee, biscuit, and cracker. Toast, vanilla, and alcohol. Bark and bourbon. Figs and dates. Sweet apples, butter, brown sugar, and sugary grapes.
T: Very sweet, but not cloying as I’ve found many a CCB beer to be. Touch of bitterness.
M: Very stick. Heavy body.
O: Probably the best CCB beer I’ve had, and one which I would choose out over the vaunted King Henry. Partly due to the fact KH is not a barleywine, and this is. djd07 (14471) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 26, 2014
Bottle thanks to Brian. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head. The aroma is strong brandy, apple skin, wood. Medium mouthfeel with nice booze, apple core, oak, and nice lingering sweet finish, hides alcohol well, very impressive. Bottle, shared at RBAG 2014, I believe by Ferris. Dark amber, creamy off white head. Big toast and sweet bourbon aroma. Sweet apple bourbon and toffee flavours, moderately bitter. Lovely balance, deep malt structure. Superb. dfearnley (2135) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 12, 2014
Bottle to goblet at RBAG...thanks Ferris
Aroma of candied fruit, currants, oak, bourbon, brown sugar. Muddy brown due to a bunch of particulates, nice creamy off white head. This is eminently drinkable, quite dangerous. Huge bourbon and oak, raisin, currant and candied fruit. Nice one.
