Bottle at Endos house, 25/05/13, thanks to Jason for liberating this one from source. Hazed mahogony brown with no head. Nose is dark toffee, wood, booze, sugars, dark fruits, dates, brandy notes, treacle toffee. Taste comprises booze steeped dark fruits, brown sugars, woody tones, dates, prunes, boozey sticky toffee pudding. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the finish. A complex barley wine that is well balanced, the brandy is pretty subtle, decent stuff!

On tap at Craft Covent Garden, black dark brown colour lasting thin tan head. Some barrel age. Again its a big beer. Unsubtle. Mostly just huge and overwhelming. Some barley wine character kicks in. Just a bit aggressive for me. Sone apple.

750mL bottle, sent from Elliesbrown (thanks a lot, Zack), pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma of various deep dark fruits, apple, a bit of brandy and caramel malts. Flavour of rich caramel malts, apple brandy, deep dark fruits and a bit of candied sugar. Very complex, with a very deep flavour profile. Sweetness is medium, with a high complexity from the apple brandy without the barrels ever taking over. Finishes on notes of apple, brandy and caramel malts. Great stuff, but perhaps not as amazing as the ratings suggests.

Mahogany pour with a small off-white head. Interesting nose to this. Tons of banana, brandy, and vanilla. A heavy dose of brown sugar, lots of alcohol, some toast, and a bit of wood. The flavor is a bit harsh and boozy. Lots of brandy, some wood, vanilla, and sweet malt. A mild bitterness, some burnt sugar, toffee, and hints of dark fruit. Could use a bit of balance and less alcohol.

Exceptionel. Thick and syrupy flavor with notes of apple, caramel, fruit, wood and licorice. Vinous and soft. A sipper with lots of depth and complexity.
