On tap at Cigar City. First of all, let me state that I’m a huge fan of barleywines, take that for what it’s worth. This offering has a huge nose of booze, brandy, malt and dark fruit. The head disappears to nothing in a very short period of time. The palate is sweet malt, dark fruit, brandy and caramel. At 13%, this is a huge beer. Enjoyed it so much, I bought a couple of bottles to go!! markwise (5450) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - SEP 17, 2012
On draft at Cigar City. Pours a hazy brown with an off-white head. Nose is a nice burst of caramel and toffee with vanilla, some toffee, some wood, some nice brandy notes, mild booziness, and some more quaffable brandy. Flavor is a delectable balance of brandy, wood, vanilla, toffee, and caramel. Medium in body and another home run from CCB’s barrel program. tom10101 (6280) - Quebec, CANADA - JAN 6, 2013
Bottle (750 ml). Traded by Gillard, huge thanks! Reddish brown with a small off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is delightful with malt, caramel, fruits and strong but not overwhelming apple brandy notes. Taste is sweet and rich but not cloying with malt, caramel, apple brandy and strong fruity notes. Medium to heavy body. Warming alcohol. Like JulienHuxley previously said, it’s quite port-like. This is the best Barley Wine and the best CCB beeer I’ve tasted so far. We drank this one and King Henry back to back and, in my opinion, Leon was way better. Great complexity and balance. A wonderful beer and a great sipper beerbaaron (2046) - Arizona, USA - APR 30, 2013
Draft. Dark brown/walnut. Small brown ring of foam. Motor oil slick. Dark fruity, sugary, sweet, alcohol/brandy/aged, wood. Clean and smooth. Slightly syrupy. Fantastic sipper. ksurkin (1021) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - JUN 6, 2013
750ml bottle via trade. pours a dusky, hazy, deep copper that’s capped by a thin but creamy khaki head leaving sticky rings of lace on the glass. aroma is simply stellar with heavy notes of fresh cut oak, baked apple pie, vanilla creme, and toffee pralines backed by unique hints of tropical florals, perfume, glaced pineapple, cotton candy, and orange julius. flavor is is more traditional but nothing short of spectacular with sweet toffee, caramel pecans, vanilla, and rich oak backed by subtly tart dark fruits, warming brandy, cocoa, and just a touch of the tropical fruit from the aroma coming through late. palate is rich, full bodied, and delicately carbonated with a lingering finish of dark fruit, toffee, and brandy. overall, a stellar effort from CCB.

Pours brown with tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, toffee and the brandy comes through. Taste toffee a dark fruits and some apple. This was just awesome picked up a bottle to put away for a few months, but will be hard to keeps from drinking sooner. jredmond (8770) - New York, New York, USA - NOV 13, 2012
Bottle shared with Vinny, Frank, Alen and Bill. Pours a deep, murky brown body with thin off white head and minor lacing. Aroma is sweet vanilla, caramel, sweet barley & malt, light cocoa, and booze. Mouthfeel is medium and lightly silky. The alcohol suggested in the aroma is nowhere to be found in the taste - making this beer extremely drinkable despite it’s high alcohol content. Notes of vanilla, toffee, caramel, cocoa, apple brandy, oak and a light spice. Very nice.
