Pours dark black coffee with an amber hue and decent creamy caramel head. The aroma brings pleasant roasted malts, fresh coffee, and black licorice. It tastes very similar, starts with light sweet roasted malty coffee notes that taste so fresh and delicious. The body is just right, not crispy or creamy, but so smooth.

From the growler. Reddish black pour with a thin light tan head. Huge roasted grain aroma with smoky notes and a hint of chocolate. Nice malt body, not too heavy with lots of roasted grain, chocolate and a roasted bitterness on the finish. Very well done.

32 oz. swing top growler via trade with smith4498 - Pours a dark brown color with a one finger thick tan head. Light spotty lacing. Aroma is roasted, almost burnt malt. Flavor is lightly sweetened roasted malt and light chocolate with some herbal hops trying to bust out. Finish is smooth and roasty. Medium body. Schwarzbier beers are probably my favorite style of Lagers and this is a good one. Thanks Jason.

glennmastrange (2867) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - APR 23, 2012
Tap. Moderate malt aroma of toasted, light to moderate herbs and resin for the hops, light earth for the yeast, with charcoal, licorice, milk and a hint of vinegar in the background.. Head is small, frothy, light tan with no lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, oily with a soft to lively carbonation. A rich and bold Schwarzbier with a few tart notes.

rdixon77 (2829) - Georgia, USA - SEP 15, 2014
Dark black, almost opaque pour. Lots of grains and maltiness with a roasted presence in the aroma. Taste was much crisper bringing in a slight hop bite to match biscuit, coffee, and chocolate flavors. Light and drinkable for being so rich. Very good.

MrBunn (2826) - The Wet Side of a Dry Town, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 24, 2012
On tap at Tampa airport. Body is dark brown with a tan head and aromas of... well... Kalamata olives and chocolate. Messed up, huh? I let it warm, still olives. It doesn’t show up in the flavor however as this is a silky chocolate beer from start to finish. This is an excellent schwarz.
