My Bottom Line : glennmastrange (2868) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - APR 23, 2012
Prominent roasted malts and their coffee bean angles dominate this lager’s date and vanilla-like fruitiness for a sweet but quite flavorful pint.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A ring of foam circles the blackness with dark brown hues.
-The low carbonation makes the sugars feel bigger.
-This is rather drinkable but it is obviously brewed to suit North Americans’ tastes for bolder brews. This is richer than any authentic Schwarzbier I’ve had.
-Mouthfeel is slick and silky.
On tap at Coffee District, Delray Beach.
Tap. Moderate malt aroma of toasted, light to moderate herbs and resin for the hops, light earth for the yeast, with charcoal, licorice, milk and a hint of vinegar in the background.. Head is small, frothy, light tan with no lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, oily with a soft to lively carbonation. A rich and bold Schwarzbier with a few tart notes. GT (10000) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 18, 2012
Tap at CCB. Deep brown to ruby with no head. Nose is sharper coffee roast and dark cherries. Taste follows suit: heavy baked cherries followed by heavy coffee and roasted malt. Medium mouthfeel with good bitterness. Easy to drink. Heavy coffee presence. Successful.

Tasted on 5/26/12 from a growler, thanks to Nick. Pours completely opaque black with a thin beige head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is full of coffee and dark chocolate with a nice bitter green hops aroma. The flavor is nice and dry with coffee, dusty dark chocolate, and the green, nicely bitter hops. The body is medium with average, stinging carbonation, and a long bitter dark chocolate and coffee finish. solidfunk (8949) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - JUN 5, 2015
Toasty and very drinkable. Black pour with OK head. Some bitterness in crisp finish. Lots of raw barley aroma.

draft @ redlight redlight. Roasted malts on the nose with notes of chocolate and charcoal. Pours very dark brown/black with a thick off white head. Pretty thick mouthfeel, rich and chocolatey with hints of smoke and bitter bakers chocolate. Pretty good. Flavor is great just pretty thick for a schwarzbier, reminds more of a baltic porter. jjuf1853 (1302) - Land O Lakes, Florida, USA - DEC 1, 2011
Draft at World of Beer. Dark brown, near black pour with a chocolate tan head. Aroma has a good bit of roasted malt, dark chocolate and smokiness. Wasn’t crazy about the flavor, too much smokiness without some of the other flavors I was expecting to balance it out. I love Cigar City, but this was not my favorite from them...still, a lesser Cigar City beer is still better than most. burg326 (5482) - Florida, USA - JAN 24, 2012
On draft at the Brass Tap, pours a dark brown, almost black color, aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, herbs, and a smidge of smoke. FLavor is much the same, huge malty flavor, really nice beer overall. sturmthis (1149) - Bavaria, GERMANY - MAY 23, 2015
Sample. Dark brown color with off white head. Coffee aroma. Taste is dry coffee and nutty. Nice. Macegan75 (845) - Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 27, 2011
Growler at one of Damico’s tastings. Nose is bacon and roasted malt. First sip is malty flavors of licorice, chicory andblack strap molasses . Finish has nice bitterness but not necessarily from hops.
