From notes. Enjoyed on draft at Hunahpu’s Day 2017 on March 11. The pour is a nice thick dark black with a thin ring of dark brown head and no lace as it vanishes. The aroma is really roasty and full of chocolate. There is a fantastic bourbon and strong oak that come with it. This is a great balance. The molasses creeps in with a hint of dark fruits. This is just what I want to see in a big time imperial stout. The flavor is much of the same. It’s got as big time dark fruit and molasses with a sweeter chocolate and light roast. There is a good bourbon flavor to it without the booziness. A light charred oak rounds it out. The mouth feel is thick and viscous with a soft carbonation and a coating of the mouth. The aftertaste is sweeter chocolate and roast with a light dark fruit linger. It’s really effing good. vtafro (7444) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - MAY 4, 2010
Draft. Black pour with brown head. Chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, slight roasted malt notes.Barrel was not as influencing as in some other others, actually prefer this to the cedar, not by much though. Rosebud butternuts (2408) - Denton, Texas, USA - MAR 14, 2011

Pours a jet black with a light brown head. Nose is strong bourbon, chocolate, little molasses. Taste is awesome bourbon zhukov, caramel, vanilla. So drinkable despite the abv. Overall an awesome beer. markwise (5450) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 14, 2011
On draft at Hunahpu Day. Pours a thick black with a small tan head. Nose is straight up bourbon with huge sweetness, vanilla, and some wood. There is also the Zhukov roasted coffee, roasted malt, and some dark chocolate in there. The flavor is the same- huge bourbon presence with vanilla, dark chocolate, and bourbon. Medium-bodied finishing with lingering bourbon. Very enjoyable.

On draft at the CCB Tasting Room Grand Reopening. Wow. How many stout do you know that can kick the barrel’s ass? This is one. Pours "I’m gonna kick your ass" black brown with a dark tan head. Nose is roast, slight bourbon, earth, dark chocolate, and some slight vanilla. Flavor is very similar. A bit of barrel, but for the most part this one annihilates the sweetness that the barrel wants to give it. Like a bitter ex-girlfriend, or its namesake general, this beer takes no prisoners as its roast, bitterness, and tiny bit of barrel leave the palate wanting more and feeling experienced.
Draft... Hunahpu’s Day (2011)… This beer rocks!… Tar black ale pours like 100,000 mile motor oil with a mid-sized, creamy, light brown head that never even thinks about scattering. Deep, dark chocolate and Cuban espresso are the true standouts in the aroma, although slighter notes of vanilla and cinnamon are definitely in the mix. Rich, robust and authoritative is the nose on this baby. Full-bodied and super velvety with gentle carbonation. The flavor is bittersweet and provides a shit-ton of burnt, bitter, black malt and carbonaceous/caramelized sweetness. In simpler terms, this ambrosia tastes like a campfire-roasted marshmallow when you get a little overzealous and literally set that bad boy on fire, blow out the flames, and then eat it. Delicious. Bittersweet, mocha, charcoal finish. World class stuff! gregthekeg14 (49) - Florida, USA - APR 19, 2011
On Draft at Hunahpu’s Day. This was the ’Four Roses’ version. Pours black with little to no head. Aroma is chocolate malt, bourbon, vanilla, molasses, and coffee. the taste is bourbon, molasses, dark chocolate, burnt wood, and vanilla. Full body with great head. This is awesome...very comparable to Double Barrel Zhukovs.

Shared by Daknole during his Final4 tasting. Bottle pours black with a beige head. Aroma shows notes of dark chocolate, heavy roasted malt, vanilla, bourbon and a hint of dark fruit. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of oak and molasses covered marshmallows. This thing was definately a beast! Thanks Dak as usual! scottyshades (130) - Parkland, Florida, Florida, USA - SEP 20, 2012
Sampled at Tryst in Delray Beach
A: Scary ass pour...pitch black, thick as oil - sheets of beer coat the glass, big brown cap.
S: Bourbon (but very well balanced, not hot or boozy), oak/wet wood, lots of vanilla, amazingly complex. Light underlying sweetness (not Hunaphu sweet though) + fudge and cocoa
T: More bourbon than the nose, but still kept balanced, big fudge and chocolate, cocoa, bitterness. Very well rounded and the flavors all play off each other well.
MF: Monster body on this - one of the thicker stouts I’ve had, carbonation was spot on considering the growler pour a few days after
Notes: Glad to have tried this one! Wish I sampled the brandy version as well. Daniel719 (144) - Safety Harbor, Florida, USA - AUG 1, 2014
2013 on tap. Pours jet black. Nice tan head. Smell of Zhukov with a bourbon nose. Taste is great. The rum goes perfect with the beer. It breaks it down, makes it less thick, and the rum takes over. But not to strong. My favorite Zhukov variant for sure.
