Draft. Pours a black body with an off white head. Creamy rich vanilla notes with a light bourbon tone. Roast y chocolate with a nice modest etoh warming. Roast y dry coffee tones, some silky chocolate hints, with a drying finish. Very light barrel, fantastic recipe tho i’d rather the cedar, thats the shit! malrubius (3043) - Springfield, Vermont, USA - FEB 26, 2010
On tap at RnH. Black with dark brown head. Roasted chocolate and earth and ash. Rich roasted coffee and chocolate earth subtle dark fruit and more wood. Rich, soft palate. Rich and dry finish finish. More suited to my taste than chewing on cedar. Excellent. TeamTrappist (832) - jericho, New York, USA - MAR 1, 2010
Tap at Rattle n Hum. Bourbon chocolate roasted malt nose. Strong solid malts. a big solid stout with big roast malts light chocolate and a touch of bourbon but by no means does the bourbon dominate, a nice touch. No sweetess at all. Very good. rcasta (874) - EL SALVADOR - DEC 31, 2010

Medicine-bottle-in-the-mail-with-bag (leaked), courtesy of brad - thank you sir! Solid dark brown, scant very dark brown head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit. Very smooth, rich, chocolately, with vanilla beans and passion fruit. Thick and chewy. Very tasty. BOLTZ7555 (3027) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAY 12, 2011
Shared by Dak @ his Final Four Tasting. Squid ink pour with a dark caramel head. The glass literally looked like it was filled with cola after the brew was gone...stained it like crazy. Aroma showed tons of baker’s chocolate, rich roasted coffee, bourbon, vanilla, and char. Flavor is filled with sweet bourbon, dark fruit, molasses, burnt caramel, toasted marshmallow, and vanilla. Chewy...and I’m sure my tongue is near black after drinking this. Yum! nightrider (754) - encinitas, California, USA - JUL 17, 2011

Pours like motor oil with quickly disappearing brown head. JStax (7225) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - JUN 20, 2017
Barrel is heavy...a touch too heavy, as it’s been with just about all the barreled cc beers I’ve had of late. Dark malts, vanilla, booze, prunes, a little soy. Thick feel.
Still like the base better, my main problem with this being it was mostly about the barrel. Very pleasant, but couldn’t tell it was Zhukov (which I love) underneath.
Bottle shared at muckfest. The beer is a near black with a khaki head of foam. Molasses and raisin notes in the aroma. Licorice, bourbon, and dark chocolate in the taste. Rich and sweet taste. Big body and medium carbonation.
