Created from their Marshall Zhukov’s Imperial Stout, it’s jet black in color, with big notes of expresso and dark chocolate balanced by roasted malt, vanilla beans, and peppery spices. There’s a nice brandy backbone from the barrel aging. One of the best imperial stouts on the planet.

The beer of beers. My new absolute favorite. Quite boozy, apple flavor from start to finish. Just beautiful and utterly drinkable. Odde (308) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JAN 16, 2010
Presents a black body with spare light brown head and fair lacing. Heavy roasted molasses, coffee and chocolate, average hops presence. Thick, sticky and high in terms of drinkability. Awesome. gkost (1069) - Alaska, USA - JAN 16, 2010
POurs pitch black with super deep brown head. Appears oily and viscous, stains the hell out of the glass. Nose is a fruity liquor, nice amounts of brandy, chocolate, alcohol, roasted grain, fudge, tootsie roll, coffee and HUGE vanilla and wood. Flavor is huge chocolate, vanilla, ice cream, booze, brandy, roast, smoke, earth, coffee, milk chocolate. Mouthfeel is sticky and oily. This is the best barrel treatment yet (next to BB Hunahpus). kiefdog (1826) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JAN 18, 2010
On tap at CCB. Pours a sinister looking pitch black color with massive head that settles slowly and heavily laces the glass. Aroma is sweet and boozy with notes of brandy, chocolate, roast, toffee, caramel, molasses, some slight smoky and woody notes. Flavor is also very sweet with notes of brandy, vanilla, oak, burnt coffee, chocolate, cocoa, molasses, light earthy notes. Generally full body, creamy, silky mouthfeel and a roasted sweet malt finish. Amazing beer. One of the very best CCB has put out thus far.

On tap at Cigar City, Hunahpu day 2011. Wow, this is delicious, aroma has a sweet background of apples, very malt forward with the brandy slowly taking hold as it lingers. This was so good, amazing. World class, I want to try the Hunahpu version but I’m not sure much could pass this one. arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - MAR 21, 2011
UPDATED: JUN 12, 2012 Growler pour, big thanks to Jason. Got the other half of the growler, not the dredges. Aroma is amazing, notes of apples, chocolate, sweet brandy, molasses, toffee, chocolate and a touch of coffee. Taste is thick, chocolate, roasty and bitter, with notes of apple, brandy, and a nice dry bitter finish. What a fantastic, layered, delicious beer.
Big thanks to Tyler for this one. Poured sludgy, oily, thick, motor oil, however you want to put it from a growler, with thin quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma is chocolate, some more chocolate, touch of smoke, red ripe apple skins, some roast, vanilla, and some coffee. Taste is literally chocolate-y syrup, notes of some coffee, smoke, tiny touch of brandy, finishing slightly boozy and bitter. 3.8. jredmond (8518) - New York, New York, USA - APR 7, 2011
UPDATED: FEB 18, 2014 Bottle split with Pat, Linh, and Andrew. Pours an engine black hole of a black body with nice lacing if the glass is shaken. Aroma is vanilla bean, sweet malty apples, chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla oak, smoky, raisins, sweet brandy, and a little honey. What a great thick roasted rich beer. Jesterdeal (1985) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - JUN 1, 2012
Aroma of candied dates, toffee and brandy. Pours black with deep brown head. Taste is amazing! Sweet toffee, chocolate, sugar cane and finishes with vanilla coffee. Delicious. MeadMe (1680) - Fishhawk, Florida, USA - MAR 13, 2010
On tap at the Hunahpus release.
A: It’s a Cigar City stout. Dark Evil and awesome when it comes to appearence.
S: Wonderful barrel aromas right from the start. Tons of brandy and woody oak. Very bold roast boardering on char. Notes of espresso and deep earthy chocolate.
T: Very much like the aroma but the barrel helps this one really stand out. Very roasted with strong chocolate. Hints of earthy char and coffee. Big big barrel notes but in such a good way. Oak and pure Brandy goodness.
M: Very full in body, smooth rich, great.
D: About as drinkable or should I say sippable as a beer this big can be.
