--thanks. Black color/ tan head. Chocolate, dry wood, booze, dark roast aromas. Full bodied with soft co2. Nice chocolate, wood, booze, deep roast malty flavors--good.
Flat pour with slight bubbles on the surface. Aroma is an awesome combination of brandy and bourbon with light roasted malt, chocolate, leather, underlying sweet malt/raisin, and a fairly dry finish with a subtle, lingering alcohol tinge. Taste is sweet brandy/bourbon up front followed by a dry roasted chocolate malt before returning to a light alcohol tinge. I pick-up on the dry roast character from the original zhukov and the absence of carbonation does not hurt the beer. Very good rich sipping beer that exceeded expectations. I could have easily drank another bottle. JoeMcPhee (9426) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - APR 28, 2011
Deep black pour with a thick dark brown head. The aroma is loaded with oak and bourbon. Loads of vanilla and cocoa along with a bit of vineous character as well. Rich and roasty. Firm alcohol but the sweetness keeps it from being overly hot. I really enjoy every treatment of Zhukov I’ve had - this one is no different. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - APR 24, 2011
Huge thanks to Sean for getting me this bottle. Shared at a tasting yesterday evening. Served alongside the base beer in a Bruery tulip.
Pour yields a near black beer with a slight mocha head that sits around for a little bit before receding to a thin collar and then eventually nothing. The nose is initially a bit muted, but with a few good swirls it roars to life. A bit of a rise in temperature helped as well, though this was opened around cellar temperature. Great notes of bourbon and brandy come through and I really enjoyed the interplay. I think the brandy took the upper hand, though the bourbon contributed. A bit of booze in there as well. While the barrel-derived aspects of the beer dominated, there was a bit of mild roast and chocolate in the background.
The flavor mixed the barrels quite well. I really enjoyed the flavor of this one. Brandy was nice and added a wonderful complexity. Chocolate was there in small amounts, along with some roast, the latter of which was particularly prevalent in the flavor. A bit of booze in there as well. Feel was thick and viscous with a bit of alcohol warmth in the swallow. Very good beer.

(Bottle) Pours super black with a couple of dark brown bubbles on top. The aroma is wooden, roasted and alcohol-driven with notes of oak, vanilla/marshmallows, bourbon, brandy, dark chocolate, nougat, nutshells, espresso, soy, port, sherry, vodka, dark fruits, apples, brown sugar, molasses, subtle smoked meat and resin. A bit raw and unpolished on the nose. The flavour is medium sweet, medium bitter and light acidic. Tones of chocolate/cocoa, coffee, vanilla, wood, brandy, spicy/resinous hops, molasses, tar, light smoke, soy and bitter nuts. The mouthfeel is round, raw and alcohol numbing. Almost no carbonation. Light astringent. Alcohol, brandy, black tea and bitter cocoa lingers. Full bodied. gregthekeg14 (49) - Florida, USA - APR 19, 2011
Pours a jet black with no head. Aroma is chocalate bourbon, roasted malts and nuts. Taste is perfect. Bourbon is strong with chocalate and coffee. Brandy notes are also there. Palate is awesome we’ll balanced and great warming ability. Overall this beer is almost perfect

Bottle acquired via trade with darkguardian...thanks Chris!!! Onyx pour with a tightly packed latte head that left spotty lacing. Cocoa, vanilla, roasted coffee bean, rich bourbon, and fudge. Burnt caramel, toasted marshmallow, and charred oak also show...lots of ashy qualities. Alcohol is present but not over-the-top. Nice thick mouthfeel. Bottle at Papsø’s - Thanks. Pitch black - no head. Oiley, bourbon, chocolate, burned, wooden, oakey, licorice, high sweetness, cocoa, vineous, fruity, light alcoholic, coffee, roasted, tobacco, soy. Too much - not that balanced - but nice.
