16 oz Swingtop Courtesy of the Cheeseman. Pours dark with small head, but coats the glass. Nutty chocolatey aroma, with hints of green apple and pipe tobacco. Sweet with nice roast characteristics, at times reminding me of a bowl of black cavendish pipe tobacco. Long finish, full with the sweetness perfectly countered by the hop and roast bitterness. callmemickey (4561) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 11, 2012
Dark black body. No head, only the faintest skim, no lacing. Nose is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and apple brandy. Eh. Flavor isn’t particularly impressive. A bit muddled and conflicted. Full bodied, slightly boozy, flabby finish. Not the best Marshal Z treatment I’ve had. Tmoney99 (15228) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 8, 2012
Growler shared by b3shine. Poured a black color with a minimal fizzy brown head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted dark chocolate, vanilla, woody and apple alcohol aroma. Heavy sweet toasted sweet malt flavor with a heavy sweet and small brandy alcohol bite finish of long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a standout beer.

Growler to snifter (thanks drowland). Looks good; pitch black and viscous with low carbonation and thin lacing. Smells AMAZING! I was gonna give it a 9, but fuck it; shit doesn’t get better than this. Tastes phenomenal too. Great mouthfeel. YES!!!

Growler courtesy of omega x - huge thanks, Jordan!
Pitch black pour with no head. Smells decadent - roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, alcohol, and brandy. It’s like a cognac coffee and it’s great. Syrupy and thick - flavors of wood, coffee, chocolate, and brandy. Really glad to have been able to try this. Can’t wait to visit Tampa again! crosamich (474) - Twin Falls, Idaho, USA - JUN 20, 2012
2012 on tap. Thick,, thick, oil slick black and thick. Oily, dry finish. Solid brandy character adds sweetness and dark fruits. scotchzi (372) - Florida, USA - JUN 18, 2012
Pour is a flat black glass coating sticky viscous mess. Smell is a little boozy with caramel molasses and resiny. Taste is smooth chocolate caramel some mild fruits with whip cream. Mouth is fully coated with a sweet chocolate syrup joes (154) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - JUN 18, 2012
From tap at CCB (april 2012). Pours black with a reasonable brown head. Very nice fruity aroma of raisins, cherry and apricot on smooth roasted malts and sweet coffee. Quite sweet (alcohol?), but very soft velvet mouthfeel. Later on the bitterness comes up, good balanced. Dark choclate, sweet coffee, raisins on alcohol ("boerenjongens" ), vanille, sweet apples and something like a good dessert wine. Good one, LIKE it.
