COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Russian Imperial Stout is dedicated to Gregory Zhukov. Arguably one of World War II’s finest generals and a man bold enough to appreciate the rich, complex flavors of a beer brewed to fortify a body through the Russian winter. Like military geniuses, Russian Imperial Stouts reach their peak with a little age on them, so we release Marshal Zhukov’s Russian Imperial Stout in sweltering August so that it will be at peak flavor come January or February. <P> Opaque black in color, the aroma has notes of espresso, chocolate, dark sweet toffee with hints of black strap molasses. The flavor starts with an unsweetened chocolate character and supporting notes of herbal dryness from English hop varietals. It then moves into dark toffee sweetness and closes with a slap of roasty espresso. Zhukov’s Imperial Stout pairs well with Mushroom Solyanka, dark chocolate, cherries and ground wars in Russia. Enjoy, comrade.

Bottle shared thanks to mariuspoenari. Black with barely any head. Strong molasses, dark chocolate, lots of blackberries, blueberries, lots of licorice, leather, tobacco, walnuts. Quite sweet and medium bitter. Full bodied with thick molasses feel and barely any carbonation.

Bottle at Jez’s Bday. Fucking good looking beer. The mouth feel was what stood out most for me in this. Thick and oily almost enveloping the mouth and super creamy with that bitter bite on the finish which I really enjoy. This isn’t a crazy Imperial Stout by any means but what Cigar City have done here is just nail this style all round with balance and depth. Great beer

Fukito (1064) - Santiago, CHILE - MAR 9, 2017
Deep opaque black with a very small off white head. Aroma is strong semi dark chocolate and some espresso, slightly boozy. Chocolate milk flavor with a very gentle bitter and espresso line aftertaste. Not cloying at all and alcohol incredibly masked. Well done

(Cigar City Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout) Bottle 750m at home, served into a snifter. Totally black coloured beer with a thick as oil pour. One full finger of thick, creamy, dark brown head on top, with great retention. Aroma of milky chocolate, mocha, toasted malts. Taste is more complex, again chocolate, coffee, liquorice now, roasted malts, toffee, dark fruits, coal on the finish. Full, thick body, soft carbonation, very sticky palate. Nice one.

Draft Third of a Pint at Route CBC Festival at Craft Beer Co, Clapham, London in Oct 2015 - Pitch Black in colour. Dark tan head. Very Malty; dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, liquorice and smoke notes. Fruity; dark fruits, raisins, dates, citrus notes. Rich, thick, tarry and a bit oily. Initially sweet roast chocolate and coffee malty and fruity becoming increasingly bitter in the finish. Enjoyed this. Good Impy Stout! (2015-10-03)
