COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Russian Imperial Stout is dedicated to Gregory Zhukov. Arguably one of World War IIís finest generals and a man bold enough to appreciate the rich, complex flavors of a beer brewed to fortify a body through the Russian winter. Like military geniuses, Russian Imperial Stouts reach their peak with a little age on them, so we release Marshal Zhukovís Russian Imperial Stout in sweltering August so that it will be at peak flavor come January or February. <P> Opaque black in color, the aroma has notes of espresso, chocolate, dark sweet toffee with hints of black strap molasses. The flavor starts with an unsweetened chocolate character and supporting notes of herbal dryness from English hop varietals. It then moves into dark toffee sweetness and closes with a slap of roasty espresso. Zhukovís Imperial Stout pairs well with Mushroom Solyanka, dark chocolate, cherries and ground wars in Russia. Enjoy, comrade.

Lukaduke (3206) - Gray, Maine, USA - JAN 18, 2013
Pours a thick viscous burnt umber black color with a finger of deep mocha foam... aromas are soft and inviting, roasted chocolate, spent coffee and lactic sugar sweetness. The palate follows suit with a nice velvety body... rich chewy and full of well balance chocolate sweetness and complex hints of dark fruit and tobacco. Really perfect finish thats dry and layered.

22oz bottle. 7/2/16 bottle date. Appearance: Black, opaque, with a deep muddy brown colored head. Much darker than typical for the style, reminiscent of a Hershey bar. Aroma: Molasses, dark chocolate, light roast, and a noticeable sherry and soy sauce like aroma. A touch of oxidation. Taste: Deep, rich malt sweetness thatís heavy in dark chocolate and a light roasted coffee. A touch of molasses , dark fruit, and sherry, with a fairly strong bitterness that counters the intense maltiness. Mouthfeel: Thick bodied, syrupy, and a very light carbonation. Very heavy. Finish: Dark chocolate and syrupy molasses linger with some sherry and dark fruit. Roast is barely noticeable Overall: This beer has nearly a year on it, and a sherry oxidation is noticeable. Beyond that, this is a very heavy, syrupy RIS with sting dark chocolate and molasses with just enough bitterness to prevent it from being cloying. Relatively light on the roastiness. Very good RIS, but seems like 6mths of age would be better than a full yr

Bottle at Jezís Bday. Fucking good looking beer. The mouth feel was what stood out most for me in this. Thick and oily almost enveloping the mouth and super creamy with that bitter bite on the finish which I really enjoy. This isnít a crazy Imperial Stout by any means but what Cigar City have done here is just nail this style all round with balance and depth. Great beer
