Review from notes. On tap. Cigar City Tap Room. What a trip to Tampa, and to cap it with 17 different beers on tap at CC. This was the last one, in a CC snifter. Lush black pour with dark coffee head. The lacing is amazing, it just coats the glass. Aromas are coffee, cocoa, vanilla, and roasted malts. Not the first beer I would think of having in 95 degree weather, but in the cool atmosphere perfect. First sip is impressive, lush smooth balanced, and rich in flavor. The chocolate dominates but with a darker, sharper chocolate that evolves in the finish. Top 8 IS that I have even had, I really wanna crack that 2010 now that is sitting in the cellar. UPDATED: JUN 12, 2012 2011 bottle. Thick syrupy opaque black pour with a brown head. Nose is rich chocolate, coffee and molasses. Flavor is rich and complex chocolate and coffee. UPDATED: SEP 18, 2015 Dès que je la verse, mon coeur se met à battre rapidement, quel noirceur! Les émanations de fruits foncés, café, fondue au chocolat, noix de coco, tabac humide et cuir au soleil se manifestent immédiatement sans que j’ais à me forcer les narines. En bouche c’est fatal, mon intérieur est totalement peinturé, les saveurs me tapissent d’un bout à l’autre et j’étire difficilement le plaisir. Quel bombe, conception pratiquement parfaite.

Comes on a tiny bit hot, not much at all though and I get an initial splash of coffee and toffee. Vanilla slithers its way in after the toffee and it ends with probably my favorite finish of any beer yet. Absolutely incredible, a finish of dark chocolate covered cherries... a sort of dark chocolate black cherry flavor. The finish of this beer is so incredible, I have to say it probably is the best finish and aftertaste of any beer I’ve had, at least any stout hands down. dctriman (60) - USA - NOV 18, 2013

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2014 Rating 1500 Bottle from 2011 Pitch black. A small dark brown head. Didn t see many brews this dark. Like a black oil, very siropy. What a bomb of chocolate and coffee. Very dark black pour with a dark tan head. Very roasty aromas, coffee, cocoa, even some toasted oak notes (even though it isn’t barrel aged whoa), toffee, and caramel as well. Flavor is sweet roasted malt upfront with cocoa and molasses as well. Smooth and rich finish. So well balanced and complex. One of the best Imperial Stouts I have ever had.
