UPDATED: OCT 16, 2009 750mL poured deep dark void with dark mocha head, a bit of legginess and sparse spotty lacing. The aroma has lots of roasty malts moving toward full hearty thick earthiness and then into milk chocolate and spicy hops. As it warms the notes shift all over the place from lots of chocolate to mostly earthy then to highly roasted. The taste begins smooth and creamy as a wide load of roasted to highly roasted malts rumble through the flavor. The roast squashes out moments of dark chocolate, earthiness and spicy hops as those notes struggle to be heard. Into the finish it gets more roasty and toward burnt like with brief wafer thin pulses of caramel showing up as the taste murmurs away into the long lasting after taste. hopscotch (11182) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 24, 2008
UPDATED: JAN 19, 2009 Draft... This beer rocks!… Pours midnight black with a mid-sized, creamy, well-tanned head. Great retention. The aroma is a swirl of chocolate, charcoal, tobacco and espresso with hints of vanilla and sorghum molasses. Full-bodied and very creamy with modest carbonation. Sweet chocolate and bitter coffee essences abound. Well-balanced. Lengthy, burnt, bitter finish. World class imperial stout! afterglow (1047) - Florida, USA - DEC 28, 2008
Pours black with a one finger tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is full of dark fruits, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, and caramel. Taste is the same as aroma with all the flavors in good balance. Full mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. A damn fine brew. jkaiser (279) - Orlando, Florida, USA - OCT 24, 2009

750ml Bottle: Aroma of chocolate, tar, malts, light roasting, black strap molasses, slight charcoal, and a hint of espresso. Poured pitch black in color with a large, creamy, dense, dark brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Slightly sparkling. Very good to excellent lacing. Flavor is medium sweet and slightly to lightly bitter. Tastes of chocolate, slight wood, tar, roasted malt, light coffee, slight charcoal, slight tobacco, slight molasses and a hint of hops. Full body. Viscous, creamy texture. Soft carbonation. Chocolate, tar, charcoal finish is medium sweet and lightly bitter, as well as a bit dry. 11%ABV is totally hidden throughout. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 6, 2009

Bottle from ericandersnavy. Above and beyond. Pours black with a really dark tan head. Aroma is celery. Go figure. More than full bodied. Mild carbonation. Flavor is very dark burnt malt, coffee, light chocolate. Finishes less than dry, but very, very delicious. Smooth. dchmela (3078) - Orlando, Florida, USA - NOV 10, 2009
7750ml bottle from the brewery. Inky black pour with a thick dark tan head. Rolling it in the glass leaves a dark yellow film. Thick roasted grain, chocolate, tar, soy sauce, tobacco and spicy hops aroma. Thick oily body with lots of chocolate, roasted grain and a big hop bitterness. Big thick and complex, wonderful.
