Bottled. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, raisins, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, raisins, chocolate, alcohol, and a bit of wood and spices, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Hand bottle. Pours a lovely black colour. Peppery, roasty nose with caramel, dark chocolate and alcohol. Roasty malt flavour with caramel, liquorice, chocolate and alcohol again. Great oily mouth-feel, mild carbonation and a long caramel, roasty malt and black pepper linger. Delicious!

Bottle at Fin & Loz’s tasting with Jan, Charlotte, Craig, Stella & kids consumed 21.10.11 Thanks to Jan for bringing this beer along. Pours black in colour in fact it is pitch black, oily and quite substantial looking. Lovely velvety mouthfeel and in the mouth I get the dried fruits which combine nicely with a lovely chocolate and light coffee flavour, lovely beer well balanced roasty and with some bitterness, good stuff. Bottled at Man in The Moon, Stockholm. Very black, dark brown head. Heavy and inky. Sweet with loads of raisins and licorice. Inky and resiny, harsh and very aggressive. Massively full bodied, and completely derailed.

(750ml bottle thanks to ericandersnavy) jet black pour, deep tan edge bubbles. Nose of licorice, anise, bakers chocolate. Taste of rich dark chocolate, dry cocoa, raisin, huge flavors with an oily body. Very good beer, but falls short of excellent.

A: The beer pours a very dark brown color, almost black, with a thin tan head. S: Roasted malt and chocolate are the initial aromas. There is a nice bit of licorice and molasses to it as well. Just a bit of booze followed by coffee, mild vanilla, and some rum raisins. T: A mild smoke flavor which might just be from the intensely roasted malt character. A mild booze flavor, dark chocolate, and miscellaneous dark fruits. A nice burnt sugar sweetness as well as some earthy hops. M: Medium bodied with a smooth, medium carbonation. O: The fruit and sugar notes were nice and took away some of intensity from the roast.

3.3
Schytz (19) - Aalborg, DENMARK - SEP 25, 2011
Aroma: Sweet, sweet chocolate, slightest touch of alcohol, vague raisins. Appearance: Pitch black, roasted head, no retention. Taste: Fine but not complex, raisins, sweet chocolate, some coffee, roasted malts, slight alcohol, but less than in the aroma. Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Judging from the look a little watery. Overall: Too pricey, not complex compared to the price. My least favorite from the series. Nice label though! Love the Dirac and Bohr tribute.
