Pours a dark luscious brownish black color with a beautiful mocha head. Nose is deep espresso and chocolate. Taste is sweet and the palate is bathed in chocolate and coffee. A beautiful sweet stout. Dark black pour with a dark tan head. Awesome smell has hints of vanilla nad plenty of coffee. The flavor is more coffee and charred astringent malt bitterness, something I like about CCB stouts. Sampled at GonzoIllini’s Birthday Party (Western Springs, IL). Happy Birthday, Tony! Pours a rich thicker blackish pour, dark and thicker with some good toasty malts, roasty, some gentle oak, and richer growing flavorful coffee. Rich coffee beans, vanilla, espresso, and gentle cocoa. Lighter elements of hazelnut, earth, inviting sweetness. Gentle oak, vanilla, and spirit. Initial is coffee, thicker fulled body yet silky, lots of coffee, espresso, cocoa, and dark silky malts. Touches of oak, rich vanilla beans, touch of nuttiness. Caramel, coffee, and toffee. Middle shows touches of more roast and toast, firm body, vanilla, silky, smooth. Great flavors, touch of cinnamon, like a rich desserty coffee drink, gentle oak, earth, roast. Great flavors, not too big. A winner from CCB.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2012 I tried this at a local beer tasting. Black pour with a tan head on top that sheds some nice lacing. The aroma shows plenty of vanilla to go with roasted coffee malt, and a healthy dose of chocolate. Slick vanilla and lactic flavors at first that’s followed by chocolate roast, coffee, paper-like notes I referred to as cardboard, a hint of molasses (which is probably the maple I was tasting), and bitter earthy notes in the finish. A bit of heft makes me wonder if "Imperial" should be included in the name. It’s a Cigar City stout, you know it’ll be good and this was. It wasn’t mind blowing or anythng though. Pours pitch black with small mocha head. Aroma of heavy sweet chocolate and fresh maple vanilla coffee. A complex smokey pepper coming off the nose, too. Wow this smells incredible. Hige thick mouthfeel like an imperial. Taste is like chocolate milk. Slight coffee bitter finish. Very light on the vanilla and maple. Vanilla comes out in aroma and flavor as it warms. Very sweet but not cloying. Alcohol totally hidden. Wow. This is really fantastic. It probably won’t get as much love since it doesn’t say "imperial" but don’t be fooled. Only knock is I was hoping for more coffee. Please brandy barrel age this, CCB. Pleeease.

Rating 4400!11/2/12. 750mL bottle shared by Eddie! What a cool idea this beer is, and a great collaboration! The pour is an awesome black with a huge tan head that sticks and laces plenty. The aroma is hugely coffee forward with a ton of chocolate, some sweet vanilla, and barely a hint of woody maple. I enjoyed this one quite a bit. Bomber ----> snifter...twice. Nose is huge espresso and roasted coffee with burnt malts, dry cocoa, and some vanilla sweetness. Pour is jet black with a small, dark brown head. Flavor is all roast and coffee. Tons of espresso and roasted malt. Sticky mouthfeel and thick. Lightly sweet finish behind that bitter roasted coffee. Black pour with a nice creamy brown head. Nose is fresh espresso, roasted malts, definite maple wood, sweet steamed milk and cocoa nibs. Flavor is loads of sweet vanilla beans, creme brûlée, coffee, cocoa, and roasted malts with some more subtle maple wood notes. Medium full bodied with a good bitterness in the end. Not overly sweet and well balanced. Damn tasty.
