Back from the dead bottle - thanks to Kenny. Shared at L42. It pours darkest brown - black with a small beige head. The aroma is soft, smooth, juicy, fruity, oily, cocoa, toasty malts and rock road. The taste is rich roasty action, bitter - sweet, oily, filthy, slick, earthy, rock road, cocoa, charred pine, boozy alcohol kick and wood with a slick, toasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Decent stuff. mR_fr0g (13657) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 16, 2017

November 2017 - Bottle share at One Canada Square. Big thanks to Kenny for this. As 'Cigar City OR', 11.2%. Dark brown or black, foamy brown head leaves dotted lacing. Aroma is cocoa, booze, dark chocolate and parma violet. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is molasses, cocoa, slightly oxidised – touch of cardboard but really not bad, spiced finish. Pretty good. (7-4-6-4-15=3.6) skrip (230) - New Jersey, USA - AUG 23, 2017

12oz bottle poured into a Night Shift wine glass.
A~ extremely black, with a small brown head and no lacing.
S~ dark malts flood the nose up front, followed by a little burnt coffee and some nice wood. ending with some sweet citrus.
T~ follows the nose so far but wow this has a lot more to offer! roasty dark malts up front which are quickly taken away by an amazing honey sweetness, followed by a bit of burnt coffee, all leading into a crazy bitter citrus hop explosion! meanwhile everything is coated in cedar, which Cigar City seems to be soo good at! (White Oak, Humidor IPA, etc...) and not a hint of booze!
M~ super smooth and refreshing! i’m gonna blame that on the pilsner malt in this version. really nice carbonation and more stout like than most stouts haha!
O~ this little series is fantastic! i definitely got lucky with the bottles that i received, they must have been aged probably because the hop presence is still in your face which is really surprising considering how old these are. i really love the HF influence here, this is very similar to Jim without the crazy honey (which definitely adds a lot) but just remember i’m a little biased cause i love black IPA’s/hoppy black ales. oh! and yup its a HF colab. haha!
"aroma falls just a hair short of it’c cousin Either, but the overall impact abd flavor are bettter. the cedar is not so strong in the finish, but evenly eveident throughout, and the complexity is the beers strongest point. licorice, honey, chocolate, roasted malt, hops, cigar...not as sweet as the other. VERY nice." jsquire (4621) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - SEP 23, 2014
Dark beer with some cola highlights when held against the light. Short beige head. Big nose of alcohol, over ripe fruit and hop resin. Sweet beer with some burnt grain notes, fruit cake, molasses, and lots of pine and hop resin in the finish. Odd, style defying beer. Alengrin (5779) - BELGIUM - AUG 25, 2014
UPDATED: DEC 24, 2016 Collaboration between three breweries, identical to their Either, but with other regional malts and hops. The result is visually the same, but aroma and taste clearly tend more to fruitiness, less dry, more honeyish and chocolatey and in all, rounder and ’friendlier’; hops still govern the finish with a firm hand, strong and long-lasting. Fantastic brew, I liked this even more than the Either, already a very good and fascinating brew in itself. Sparky (2244) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - JUL 31, 2014
Share from Boltz. Pours pitch black with a one finger tan head that leaves nice lacing. The nose is citrus hops, roasted malt and pine. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, ripe citrus, coffee and a nice pine finish. Medium bodied. Nice black IPA. 3.7 bhensonb (15843) - Woodland, California, USA - MAR 18, 2014
