Patio Pils is a pre-prohibition recipe lager with a modern twist. We improve on the traditional recipe made popular by German immigrants to the US during the mid 1800s, by replacing six-row barley and cluster hops with premium two-row pilsner malt and noble hop varietals. These improvements yield a lager which expertly balances malt sweetness with hop bitterness. As in the classic pre-prohibition recipes we add flaked maize, which imparts delightful fresh corn notes. <P> Patio Pils is an exceptional warm weather beer that stays true to its craft beer roots, bringing massive flavor concentration and generous hop aroma and taste to every sip.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of DrewFace. Thanks! Pours a bit hazy, yellow appearance with a white head. Fairly grainy, spicy pils malty, herbal, spicy hoppy, light green pepper aroma. A touch sweet, quite toasty cracker, grainy, chewy, light corn flavor. Has some potential but not quite perfect.

12oz bottle from a trade. Pours a Coors light clear gold color with a bubbly white head. Nose is odd; raisins, plasticky. Flavor is sweet fruit, honey, bread. Strange.

Thanks to tastybeer for the freebie. This is a solid lawnmower beer that is not Cigar Citys greatest release but works for the style. I would probably drink much more locally rather than source more. However if you happen to be in the area and see it on the shelves give it a try (especially if you can score a single).

Aroma / Appearance - The carbonated and transparent base sparkles like a golden ginger ale. Rich white head captures the scents of toasted wheat, noble hops, and dry cereal grains. This is effective but pretty basic.

Flavor / Palate - Cheerios, dry malts, and simple hops permeate the profile from start to finish. There is not much depth here. However it works as a starter beer or for a hot summer day. The delayed bitterness puts it a notch above other similar beers because it is not boring nor does it seek too much attention. Instead it strikes that perfect balance of "just enough."

This has got to be one of the best pilsners out there! Budweiser only wishes they could make a beer this good. The rating may seem high, but I'm rating it in the family of Pilsners and not comparing to other styles that I prefer or like better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not bad. Not great either. Bright yellow in the glass with a lacy little head. Light flavor of hops. Bubbly palate.

Draft at Mekong. Aroma is of light malts and some slight floral hops. Flavor is a match, but is slightly full bodied and malt focused. I didnt get corn, just a certain fullness in the palate. The hops were pleasant, but I wish there had been more of an upfront punch and a dryness on the finish. But not bad.

At the brewery on tap. Pours clear golden. Aroma is hay, straw, sweet malt. Flavor is hay and honey with a crisp clean finish. Easy drinking and very light. A great summer boat beer. Usually not a huge pils fan but this is nice, and at 7% I am impressed.

Bottle - Pours amber with a white frothy head, very bubbly. Some hops and malts smells in the nose. Tastes bready, grainy, and some bitter grapefruit at the end. Its a pils.

12oz bottle from Homer, thanks bro. Poured a mostly clear light gold with an average to smaller fomay white head. Aroma was odd with some plastic and glue along with raisin bread dough, wet nut shells. Palate was watery with softer carbonation. Flavor was sweet, green grapes, dough, honey topped bread. Meh, not blown away here.
