Growler. Dark brown pour, nice medium carbonation and an aroma of peat. Flavor is initially a little chocolate, roasty malts, oaky and finished a very dry and a little smoky. Pretty solid beer, would definitely search this out if remotely interested.

4oz pour @ Cigar City Sample 6of12. As Hillsborough River. Pitch black color with small to average creamy light tan head. Roasted malt and coffee in aroma. Mild coffee, roasted malt and some balancing hoppy dryness in flavour. Smooth.

Tap @ Rattle N Hum: Dark brown with a great aroma of coffee and rich flavors of malt and some chocolate. Slick finish which is unusual for the style. Quite enjoyable.

kathouse (1893) - LAS VEGAS, Nevada, USA - JAN 26, 2012
From the tap at the tasting room. Pours deep garnet with a thin head. Citrus hops and a toasted aroma top the thin mouthfeel. Roasted malt flavor was dry without bitterness. No real depth, but not bad.

yobdoog (1888) - Kingston, New York, USA - APR 19, 2010
Dark black with brownish highlights. Aroma is sweet, chocolate, roasted malts and toffee with a hint of anise. Flavor is well balanced. Some sweetness and dry roasted coffee and roasted malts. Slightly charred which adds some bitterness. Overall pretty smooth and nice body. Growler and draft.
